Meagan Jackson Counseling

Meagan Jackson Counseling You’re doing everything you can, but your child still seems overwhelmed, withdrawn, or just not like themselves—and it’s breaking your heart.

I'm a LPC-S and RPT-S who wants to partner with you to help you and your kiddo Hi, I’m Meagan Jackson—a child and family therapist in Frisco, TX. I help kids, teens, and parents work through big emotions and tough transitions. In my work with families, I use a combination of play therapy, EMDR, and trauma-informed approaches to help children and teens process what they’re feeling—even when they don’t have the words yet. I draw from evidence-based models like Attachment Theory, Family Systems, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention to support emotional growth and healthy relationships. Sessions are collaborative and customized, with space for both the child and the parent to feel heard and supported. My goal is always to help families move from confusion and conflict to clarity, confidence, and deeper connection.

✨ Let’s talk about s*x… and when to talk to your kids about it.

Here’s the thing: these conversations start much earlier than most of us expect. And they don’t happen all at once — they grow and evolve as your child does.

From teaching toddlers the correct names for their body parts 🧸 to helping teens navigate boundaries, consent, and relationships ❤️, these talks are about so much more than “the birds and the bees.”

In my latest blog, I’m breaking down:
🔹 When to start conversations (by age + stage)
🔹 How to teach consent and boundaries early
🔹 Age-appropriate ways to explain puberty and s*x
🔹 How to address po*******hy + online safety
🔹 Why these talks build trust and connection with your kids

It’s never about one big talk — it’s about many small conversations over time. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

✨ Ever find yourself in full-on chaos mode?
Cheerios on the floor, sounds coming from every direction, your kid’s cup hits the ground — and suddenly you’re reacting before you even realize it. 😅

Here’s the thing: you’re not alone. We’ve all been there. But there’s a powerful shift that can change everything: responding instead of reacting. 💛

In this blog, I share:
🔹 The difference between responding vs. reacting
🔹 How to be the “thermostat” instead of the “thermometer”
🔹 Three simple reflection questions to help you pause
🔹 Why grace (for yourself + your kids) matters so much

Parenting isn’t about perfection — it’s about practicing new ways to connect and guide our kids. 🫶

😅 “How was your day?”
“Fine.”
“Good.”
“Okay.”

Sound familiar? 🙋‍♀️ If your kiddo comes home from school and you’re met with one-word answers, you’re not alone!

Instead of the classic question, try this quick check in with open ended questions:
✨ “What was your high today?"
✨ “What was your low today?”
✨ “What was your surprise today?”

Sometimes our kids need a little nudge to open up — and swapping the how was your day? for something more specific can make all the difference. 💛

Save this for later + try it after school today! 📝

🧸 What is Play Therapy — and how can it help your child?

Play is a child’s natural language. It’s how they process big emotions, make sense of their world, and share what they can’t always put into words. That’s why play therapy can be so powerful. 💛

In the playroom, toys become their words and play becomes their voice. With the support of a trained therapist, kids can:
✨ Work through big feelings
✨ Process tough life transitions
✨ Build coping skills and resilience
✨ Feel truly seen, heard, and understood

If your child is experiencing anxiety, meltdowns, social struggles, or just seems “off,” play therapy can provide a safe, healing space for them to work through it — while giving you tools to better support them, too.

At Meagan Jackson Counseling, we take a collaborative, family-focused approach to help kids and parents feel more connected, supported, and empowered. 🫶

Curious if play therapy might be right for your child?

💛 Divorce is hard. For parents. For kids. For the whole family.

When you’re navigating a separation, one of the hardest parts is understanding what your child is thinking and feeling — without putting them in the middle. That’s where a Child Specialist comes in.

Think of them as a kid whisperer 👂✨ — a neutral, trained professional who meets your child where they are emotionally, socially, and developmentally. Their job? To give your child a voice in the process while helping parents create a Parenting Plan that’s informed, compassionate, and truly child-centered.

In my latest blog, I’m sharing:
👧 What a Child Specialist actually does
🧩 How they support families during divorce
💛 Why involving one can make the transition smoother for everyone

If you’re going through a separation and want to make sure your child’s needs are seen, heard, and honored, this post is for you.
