๐ A Meaningful Step Forward for the FASD Community
This month marks an important milestone for individuals with an FASD and their families with the signing of the SUPPORT Act, which officially authorizes the FASD Respect Act.
This new law reflects years of advocacy, education, and persistence from organizations, families, and self-advocates across the country. It represents a more informed and compassionate federal approach to understanding FASD and supporting the people it impacts.
We are grateful for the advocates whose efforts helped make this progress possible. To learn more about the SUPPORT Act, visit:

Today marks a truly historic step forward for the FASD community โ and Proof Alliance is proud to celebrate alongside advocates across the nation. โจ
The SUPPORT Act has been signed into law by the president, officially authorizing the FASD Respect Act. This milestone is the culmination of decades of dedication, countless meetings on Capitol Hill, persistent storytelling and community-driven advocacy.
This new law does more than establish programs; it also provides funding for them. It requires the federal government to approach FASD with a realigned, respectful and informed perspective โ one that centers the lived experiences of individuals with an FASD and their families.
This win was made possible by:
๐ Self-advocates who bravely shared their stories and living experiences.
๐ Parents and caregivers who never stopped pushing for recognition.
๐ Professionals and providers who helped educate policymakers.
๐ Champions in Congress who carried this legislation forward.
๐ Leaders like Susan Shepard Carlson, whose vision shaped this progress.
๐ National coordination from FASD United.
๐ And the ongoing commitment of FASD-focused organizations like Proof Alliance.
Now, we shift from authorization to implementation. Proof Alliance is already continuing the work to advocate and provide strength-based support to families of individuals with an FASD to make the world more FASD-friendly.
Today, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we keep building. ๐
