The Nettle Patch, LLC is an herb shop and herbal education center in Frostburg, MD. We source our bulk dried herbs from organic growers and ethical wildcrafters, and support local growers and gatherers whenever possible. We carry a variety of herbs and herbal products, all-natural soaps, herbal teas and tea-making supplies, botanical gifts, books, herbalist supplies, and more. A selection of teas and herbal-themed food and snacks including soups, breads, cookies, and other herbal treats are available for purchase at the tea bar. We offer classes and workshops to the local community. We offer custom formulation and consultation services as well. We have 25+ years experience in herbalism and a commitment to providing quality herbs and herbal products. We use and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for herbal supplements and topical products as required by the Food and Drug Administration.

Snacking on the tart, crispy fresh calyx of Hibiscus sabdariffa, which is currently in bloom. After blooming, the flower will wilt and drop, leaving the calyx which is the part used for tea. One of the best herbs for hypertension support, and delicious, too.

A few bottles of my homegrown and home-distilled Lemon Verbena hydrosol are now available in the shop in 2 oz cobalt blue spray bottles. I love it as a facial toner after cleansing, or as a pick-me-up spray. The vibrant, lemony fragrance is instantly uplifting.

The next class is coming up November 13th. Fall is the perfect time for digging roots. This class will cover 10 medicinal plant roots and rhizomes, including how to grow, harvest and prepare them for medicine and food. Historical and modern day uses will be included, and we'll sample decoctions and other root preparations. Participants can make their own root tincture to take home for an additional $5 cash materials fee paid during class. Fee for this class is $30 and pre-registration is required.
