Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Chelsea Knowles, MS, CCC-SLP — owner and lead Speech-Language Pathologist at Look Whoo’s Talking, LLC here in beautiful St. Johns/Fruit Cove, Florida.

What I do: I help babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age kids find their voice through personalized pediatric speech, language, and feeding therapy.

Whether it’s late talking, articulation challenges, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), language delays, stuttering, or picky eating/feeding difficulties, I provide one-on-one evaluations and therapy that’s fun, evidence-based, and family-centered. No long waitlists — we get started quickly so kids can make progress when they need it most!

Why I’m great at it: With over 25 years of exclusively pediatric experience, I’m ASHA-certified and Florida-licensed, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping children communicate confidently and enjoy mealtimes. I stay up-to-date on the latest techniques (especially for complex cases like apraxia), build strong connections with kids and families, and celebrate every small win along the way.

Parents tell me they love the warm, playful approach that makes therapy feel like playtime — not work.

If you’re wondering if your little one might benefit from speech or feeding support, drop a comment, send me a message, or check out www.lookwhoostalking.org. I’d love to help your child shine! 🗣️❤️

Having both autism and ADHD, (sometimes called AUDHD) can be a real challenge! Do you have any of these conflicting traits?

This is Look Whoo's Talking. It’s cozy but perfect.

We push the little table under the big desk to make room to play on the floor.

The big desk is great for evaluating and treating older kids or adults.

The swing can switch out for a sensory swing.

All of the toys and games are hidden in the neutral cabinets and bins so that the ones we have out are the only ones of interest to the kids to avoid distraction.

The tops of the cabinets are clear so that we can put toys or activities of interest there to create a need to request.

There is room for a parent to sit in the cozy chair, but we’ve fit as many as 7 people in here.

There are two chairs facing the door if parents want to observe from outside the room but we encourage parents to join us inside.

There’s another book shelf you can’t see with activities and books.

We are located right in Julington Creek/Fruit Cove inside of The Playful Family, Inc. in the Roundtable Realty building.

We have one opening! Come see us! Text Speech or Feedimg to 727-667-7282 🙂

“Withholding” is a technique to “create a need” for communication. Start with something like train tracks where you have them in a large gallon plastic zip lock bag where they can see them. Model “track” and have them request “track” for each track rather than giving them the whole train to play with. This way they will get multiple repetitions of a word and the more they practice, the more automatic speaking becomes for them :) You can also use withholding during snack time with teddy grahams or gold fish where you give them just a few and you keep the rest in the bag. Have them say “bear” or “cookie” for each teddy graham or “fish” for each additional gold fish cracker!

Keep it simple!
Keep it fun!
Pair the homework with a daily routine like bath time, snack time, or floor time play so you remember to do it :)

Look Whoo's Talking specializes in Apraxia of speech or Childhood Apraxia of Speech and is trained in a few types of therapies for it such as PROMPT, DTTC, and Kaufman. Today we were using Kaufman for one of our clients with moderate Apraxia and DTTC for one of our clients with severe CAS. Here is a free visual that I shared with my client’s Mom that I found on TPT (Teacher’s Pay Teachers).

Not every trauma response looks the same.

When children (and adults) feel unsafe, their nervous system goes into survival mode. You may see:

🥊Fight – anger, yelling, hitting, or controlling behavior
✈️ Flight – running away, avoiding, anxiety, or restlessness
🥶Freeze – shutting down, zoning out, “not listening,” or going quiet
🌹Fawn – people-pleasing, over-apologizing, or trying to keep the peace

These are not “bad behaviors.” They are protective strategies the brain uses to stay safe.

When we respond with curiosity instead of punishment, we help build regulation, trust, and healing. Every moment of connection rewires the brain toward safety.

Let’s look beyond behavior and ask: What happened instead of what’s wrong with you? 💙🌈

Did you know I also work at my twin’s middle school? Therapy looks a little different here than in my private practice! On this day, someone in our group won a Hot Chip Challenge! But we didn’t stop working on our language goals… we just incorporated the fun!
