North Orange County Tennis Club - noctc

NOCTC is current innactive. Please check back for a new NOCTC in the future We are the North Orange County Tennis Club (NOCTC). Again, 3 sets of mixed doubles.

Established in 1978, NOCTC celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2008. At NOCTC you will find that we are a friendly and social tennis club with that vital competitive element. Our club’s motto says it all – “fun, friendship & competition.”

North Orange County Tennis Club is based at the Fullerton Tennis Center in Fullerton California. Our current membership stands at 135 members and growing. NOCTC welcomes players of all abilities from the junior level and above. If you are looking to play some tennis, why not come along and join our club’s “drop-in” Friday night play. Drop in Friday play meets from 6:30pm – 9:30pm where we play 3 sets (ad scoring) of mixed doubles. NOCTC also has a Saturday “drop-in” play which runs from 3:30p – 6:00p. Reduced court fees when playing with NOCTC on our drop in nights. All “drop-in” play is held at the Fullerton Tennis Center (behind St. Jude Hospital). Hope to see you on the court!

Call for Volunteers!
NOCTC Junior Satellite Tournament
Memorial Day Weekend May 25, 26, 27

The NOCTC Annual Memorial Day Junior’s Tournament (Boys/Girls age 10-16) will be held on Saturday through Monday, May 25-27 at the Fullerton Tennis Center. We are looking for NOCTC club members and Facebook friends to serve as volunteer “Court Escorts”. Duties to include: escorting players to assigned courts, explaining match rules, officiating coin toss & warm up and observing matches to insure a smooth running tournament. This is a fun and rewarding way to spend a day or two while watching some exciting tennis. Snack bar, massages and some great tennis will be available. Bring a sun hat and comfortable shoes!

N.O.C.T.C. hosts fourth annual Amethyst Cup club tournament.

March 3rd was the day for NOCTC's Amethyst Cup tournament at Fullerton Tennis Center. The tournament, now in its fourth year attracts competitors not only from within NOCTC but from neighboring clubs and friends and associates of members.
The tournament is round robin mixed doubles with an 8 game set, each game won counting as a point. The highest point earners make the final round for the Gem Trophy.
Following play a luncheon was served of pizza, chicken bakes and salad.
The Gem Trophy Champions were Jorge and Kayoka Lara playing out of the Cypress club with finalist Gem Trophies going to NOCTC members Rich “Sarge” Peña and Sarah Budeshtsky.
Thanks to Reg Salcido, NOCTC for his remarkable effort in taking the lead on the organization of this event.

Style of play will be mixed doubles using an eight game set format. We can set you up with a playing partner if you need.

NOCTC notches another victory in InterClub play

The NOCTC InterClub team claimed victory against the club team from Cypress on Saturday December 8th at the Lakewood Tennis Center. NOCTC had to play with substitute players from the Cypress club due to a shortage of women players available for the match. The victory gives NOCTC an undefeated record for 2012 with 3 match wins and one walkover. Congrats to Saturday's Players Dale Aguilar, Ed Knaus, Brian Nunes, Blaine Maruoka and Tamiko Lake. Stay tuned for information on the 2013 InterClub season and a great big thanks to all NOCTC players who have taken time to represent the club this undefeated season.

NOCTC triumphs over Downey in InterClub Play!

Our NOCTC InterClub team has won again. After notching a victory over Greater Whittier Tennis Club earlier this summer the NOCTC team scored another win on Sunday September 9th over the team from Downey. NOCTC was the home team playing at Fullerton Tennis Center, providing courts, ball and refreshment for the visiting team from Downey. The InterClub League fields teams of 4 men and 4 women in 8 game sets of men's, women's and mixed doubles with a cumulative games won scoring. The league play has been great fun for everyone who has played the matches and we have developed great playing friends with members from the other clubs. Congrats to our NOCTC team who joined in on a warm Sunday morning Michael Napoli, Julie Napoli, Diane Stevens, Tamara Biedebach, Matt Tourbough, Dale Aguilar, Charles Jordan, Bill Fitzgerald, Sharon Portman and Sarah Budesktski and thanks to Dale Aguilar and Reggie Salcido who coordinated the team and refreshments.

On Labor Day, September 3rd NOCTC held its annual end of summer tournament this year titled "Labor of Love" at Fullerton Tennis Center. A record 40 participants from NOCTC and guests from the local InterClub League NOCTC takes part in vied for the prized tournament trophies. A tradition in our tournaments, trophies are not only an award but a functional item to be used in the home. For our Labor of Love the champion were awarded a summery green glass palm leaf platter while the finalists took home rectangular crystal trays. The mementos are etched with the occasion. Play was mixed doubles round robin with top 4 team playoff for finals. Congrats to champions Hai Nguyen and Tina Dihn, guests from Cypress Tennis Club with NOCTC members Bill Rathmand and Kumi Shinomiya finalists. Reg Slacido took the lead in organizing the event for NOCTC...Thanks a million Reg...it was a great day of tennis and fun for all!
