🍪 A huge thank you to the Weston Lakes Women's Association for dropping off Girl Scout cookies for our grandparents here at Aspen Cove! Your thoughtful gesture brought so many smiles to our home.

🤔 Did you know that as we age, our sense of taste and smell can decrease?

😋 Sweet flavors are often easier for seniors to detect, which is one reason they especially enjoy treats like cookies. And Girl Scout cookies bring back such sweet memories — supporting their children or grandchildren, school days, and sharing desserts around the family table.

💛 We are so grateful for a community that cares and gives so generously. You truly made our day!

💛 Today was a blessing at Aspen Cove

🙏 We are so incredibly grateful for Gary and Crosby from Rhino Pest Protection, and Arturo and Ceci from Wealthwave, who along with their three amazing boys, spent time with our grandparents today.

They brought laughter, high energy, and so much positive spirit into our home.

We played a fun group activity where we tossed beanbags into a heart laid out on the floor. Some throws made the mark and some missed.

It wasn’t just a game — it was a lesson. They tied the entire activity to a powerful message centered around LOVE.

💛 Love God.
💛 Love ourselves.
💛 Love others.

You try your best to do so but sometimes you miss the mark too. Just keep going.

🤲 We are beyond thankful to know families like theirs. The secret to living really is giving — and they live that out every month with us.

☕ Who says you need a special occasion to throw a tea party?

💛 Today, our amazing team planned a wonderful tea party for our ladies and gentlemen this Monday. From delicious treats and fresh tea to laughter-filled conversations around the table, it was such a beautiful way to slow down, connect, and simply enjoy the moment together.

🏡 At the end of the day, it’s not just about tea and pastries… it’s about creating a home where our residents feel cherished, celebrated, and surrounded by love. 💕

🙏 Because here, every day is worth celebrating.

💛 We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with 1st Texas Home Health- Sealy & Weimar in helping us care for our grandparents here at Aspen Cove Assisted Living.

🚶One of their wonderful Physical Therapists, Cindy, spent dedicated, one-on-one time with our Care Specialists, walking them through proper ambulation techniques, safe transfers, correct use of gait belts, important safety precautions, and key signs to watch for during movement and mobility.

📙 Continuous training is so important to us because every grandparent we serve is unique. Their strength, balance, diagnosis, and needs are different — and our approach must reflect that.

🤝 Thank you, 1st Texas Home Health, for standing alongside us in our mission to provide thoughtful, person-centered care. We are better together.

😎 No Poker Face Needed: A Simple Game, A Powerful Lesson

🃏 This month, a simple card game turned into something much more meaningful for our residents.

🍩 Lead by our dear friends Gary and Crosby from Rhino Pest Protection— along with their daughter and three lively young boys — we hosted a giant game of cards that had everyone smiling, laughing, and winning sweet little prizes.

What continues to amaze me is their ability to use a simple activity to teach a powerful lesson-

“Who you are on the inside should be who you are on the outside. No poker face. No pretending. Just be true. Be real.”

🙏 Authenticity is the foundation of healthy relationships — with ourselves, with others, and especially our faith.

💛 At our home, every activity — no matter how small — is a chance to connect, grow, and reflect. And sometimes, it’s the simplest moments that teach the most powerful lessons.

🚘 Thank You, West Enders Car Club

🚗✨ We want to send a HUGE thank you to the West Ender’s Car Club for showing up for our 4th drive-by car show at Aspen Cove Assisted Living

👴 We believe that identity doesn’t fade with age. We may change. We may do things differently. But who we are at our core should always be honored and celebrated. Honestly, that’s exactly how I would want to be treated when it’s my time to be cared for—and that’s what we strive to do every single day.

Is it always easy? No.
Is it always worth it? Absolutely.

🤗 We work hard to celebrate the unique personality of every resident, and today was a perfect example of that.

🔧 Mr. Andy is a lifelong car guy. He built cars from the ground up. He taught his daughters how to build cars. While he can’t work on them or attend car shows anymore, his love for cars is still very much a part of who he is. So instead of letting that passion fade… we brought the car show to him. He owned an MG and a mustang, two cars in attendance today.

🙏 We truly cannot thank you enough for the time, effort, and heart you pour into making moments like this possible. You didn’t just bring cars—you brought joy, memories, dignity, and connection.

💛 From all of us at Aspen Cove (and especially Mr. Andy): thank you for helping us celebrate identity, purpose, and passion—no matter the season of life.

It involves:

✅ Movement: Dancing keeps muscles strong, joints flexible, and improves balance—which can help reduce falls.

✅ Music: Listening to music while dancing lights up the brain. It helps improve memory, mood, and focus—especially powerful for those experiencing memory loss.

✅ Brain & Body in Sync: Dancing is one of the few activities that uses both sides of the brain and the whole body at the same time—which helps keep the brain sharp and the heart happy.

👣 So go ahead—turn on your favorite song, grab a partner (or go solo), and dance like no one’s watching. It might just be the healthiest thing you do today!

🐾 We had a peaceful afternoon walk to the lake across the street from our home with one of our sweet grandmas and her furry friend, Denver.

💛 She mentioned that she hasn’t taken care of a dog in years and mentioned that “This is beautiful.” These are the kind of moments that we live for everyday.
