🤝 She’s gently held the hands of our residents, spoken calm words in anxious moments, and sat patiently — always ready to listen with love. Her wisdom runs deep, and her presence brings peace wherever she goes.

🙌 She loves a good conversation, never says no to a fresh cup of coffee, and she’s the kind of person who lets others shine around her, offering them space to be seen and celebrated.

🐾 A Rescue Pup’s New Mission: To Heal and Be Healed

🐶 Meet Li’l Aspen. This soft-coated, 11lb, hypoallergenic, sweet pup is our official comfort dog—and a beloved member of the Aspen Cove family. He offers our grandmas and grandpas a kind of comfort only a four-legged friend can provide.

💛 He is a rescue pup and his early days weren’t easy. He came to us shy, skittish, and unsure of the world around him—which makes us think that he experienced neglect and maybe even abuse. It was clear he hadn’t experienced the love he deserved.

🤗 Now, he doesn’t only get love from our residents—he gets to give to them as well. As he is helping them daily, our grandmas and grandpas are helping him heal too.

🌟 Comfort dogs like Li’l Aspen help our residents in powerful ways:
✅ Ease stress and soothe anxiety
✅ Lift spirits and boost overall mood
✅ Create space for emotional expression
✅ Encourage gentle movement and touch
✅ Spark memories and moments of joy—especially for those with dementia

📘 From my morning devotional today -
I felt a nudge to share this with our Aspen Cove Assisted Living team—it’s a simple reminder of the heart behind what we do each day. For everyone in the people business (which is everyone), it’s easy to forget the impact we make. Thought this might speak to you too.

🎁 “Generosity seems to work in two ways. We get to give gifts to others while we ourselves receive the pleasure of being generous. Perhaps the most incredible gift we can give to people in our lives is the gift of time and attention.”

🎁 This couldn’t be more true for what we do here at Aspen Cove.

🕰️ Each day, your presence, your patience, your attention — they are acts of generosity. When Mr. A consistently wakes up during the night, or when Ms. B reaches out just to feel your nearness — those are the moments that define us. You give your time and you give your attention. And in doing so, you give one of the most powerful gifts a human being can offer.

💛 Remember: This work is more than a job, there are other ways to make money, and we chose this path. You are the calm in someone’s confusion. You are the light in someone’s loneliness. You are the reason someone feels safe, heard, and loved. You are the true hearts of this house.

🫖 Yesterday reminded us that Aspen Cove’s community goes far beyond the four walls of our home.

🍵 We had the pleasure of hosting a beautiful afternoon tea party organized by Coleen Gokool from House Doctors of South Katy, her husband Andre, their two daughters, and the incredible team from Teacups and Saucers LLC. The pastries were delicious, the tea was fantastic, and the décor was absolutely stunning.

💛 What truly stood out wasn’t on the table — it’s the people that it brought together.

🏡 At Aspen Cove Assisted Living, we talk a lot about creating a place that feels like home. But what I realized yesterday is that a home becomes a community when people come together not out of obligation, but out of love, care, and shared purpose.

👴👵 Within those four walls, laughter echoed. Stories were shared. Strangers became friends. Sorrows were lifted. That’s what makes our community special — the people who fill it with heart.

🔧 We want to give a special thank-you to House Doctors of South Katy, who not only organize this beautiful event but have also been instrumental in making Aspen Cove a safer, more beautiful home. They’ve rolled up their sleeves with us countless times, checking things off our to-do list and helping us keep this place in top shape.

🤝 To us, it’s not just about running a business — it’s about building a community where people help each other, where every act of kindness adds another brick to the foundation of connection - from our grandmas, grandpas, care specialists, healthcare partners, business providers and families that we serve.

🎶 Yesterday we were blessed by the presence of, Gary and Crosby. Not only are they our good friends but also the owners of Rhino Pest Protection, keeping both Aspen Cove Assisted Living and our personal home safe and protected, but they also share their hearts as community volunteers.

We opened with the moving story behind the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul”, written by Horatio Spafford—a man who found peace in the midst of suffering. From there, we lifted our voices together in “Amazing Grace”, a song that continues to bring comfort and hope across generations.

💛 Music like this holds deep meaning. These musical memories often stay with us the longest because they are tied to emotion, and yesterday we witnessed how powerfully it connects with our residents.

👏 We are so grateful for loving friends and community partners who bring joy, comfort, and connection into our home. Thank you both for making the day so meaningful.

🚗✨ Our quarterly Car Show was something to remember. This time, both our grandmas and grandpas came out to admire the beautiful cars. Car enthusiasts generously shared their classic rides with us, creating a wonderful opportunity for connection.

💛 What started as friendly conversations about cars quickly grew into deeper conversations about life, purpose, and service. ❤️

🙏 A big thank you to the Westenders Car Club for driving by and bringing so much joy to our residents. These moments are what make our community thrive—connection, laughter, and stories that matter.

💛 "Heartfelt Connections"

🏠 At our home, Heartfelt Connections is one of our 6 core values. It’s in the quiet moments, the small gestures, and the unexpected kindness.

👴🏻 Last week, one of our gentlemen gently pushed a fellow resident in her wheelchair, (I was behind him to make sure everyone is safe). And just last night, one of our lovely ladies sat beside a friend, softly massaging his hand to bring him comfort.

🤝 These are the moments that remind us: connection doesn’t stop with staff to resident. Sometimes, the most beautiful acts come from resident to resident. And in those acts, something powerful happens—a sense of being seen, valued, and having purpose is reignited.

This is the kind of home we are building—together.
