📞 662-862-3155 C. Hawkins family. Mr.

McNeece-Morris Funeral Home began in 1961 when Boyce McNeece and his father-in-law Charles Morris purchased the funeral home from the R. The Hawkins family owned and operated Hawkins Funeral Home from 1929 until 1961 when McNeece and Morris took over. The firm moved to its present location just south of the court square in 1965. Morris passed away in 1971, and his son Phil worked in the business until the late 1980s. McNeece's son Steven joined the firm in 1989 and has served as Itawamba County Coroner since 2004. In 1991, McNeece-Morris built its Mantachie chapel to serve the needs of Mantachie, northern Lee and southern Prentiss counties. Throughout the years, Boyce, Steven and all the McNeece-Morris family have earned a solid reputation of compassion, dependability, and trust when it matters most.

A question we get a lot:
“What happens right after someone passes?”

The answer: Right away, we go. No matter the time or place. From there, we begin caring for your loved one exactly how you’d want.

All questions are welcome! Keep them coming!

AI can be a great tool, and we respect those who use it.

But for obituaries, we still do it the old-fashioned way — side by side with families — because we believe every story should feel personal, not automated. ❤️

*Content note: This post discusses embalming and post-death care.*

We know this isn’t a topic everyone is comfortable with—but education shouldn’t be off limits.

You asked, and we’re answering: Embalming 101. We’re walking through the basics and clearing up some of the most common questions we get about what happens behind the scenes.

Our goal is to bring clarity, transparency, and support when it comes to end-of-life care and the options available.

We’ve been a little quiet this week, but for a good reason 🤍

We had the chance to be out at the Valspar Championship here in Florida, supporting one of our own from back home — Chad Ramey — It was such a special moment to watch a local take on a stage like that ⛳️

We’ll be back to our regular content now, but we’re so grateful we got to be there and show our support!
