🌟 Congratulations to our 2025 Nurse Practitioner of the Year! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share that on October 9, 2025, our very own Scott Hooks, CRNP, was honored as the Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama. This award recognizes nurse practitioners who exemplify outstanding clinical excellence, compassion, advocacy, and leadership within the profession.

Scott was nominated by Tabitha Self, the wife of a patient Scott cared for in our critical care unit. Her words reflect the heart of who Scott is—not only as a clinician, but as a person of deep compassion and integrity.

Here is a portion of the heartfelt nomination Tabitha shared:

“…I faced the unimaginable—I became a widow with a 16-day-old baby. That same day, however, I also met Mr. Scott Hooks.

From the very beginning, he stood by my side. During our time at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Mr. Hooks provided not only exceptional medical care but also remarkable compassion.
On March 13th, as hospital staff worked tirelessly to provide life-saving measures for my husband, Mr. Hooks guided me through every step with clarity and empathy. He explained what was happening in a way that I could understand, and he did so with patience and kindness. When Dylan passed, Mr. Hooks remained by my side, offering comfort during the most difficult moment of my life.

Months later, when he saw me and my daughter at the hospital, he remembered both of our names. He remembered us as people, not just as patients. That simple act of recognition speaks to his extraordinary character.

Mr. Hooks is not only a skilled nurse practitioner—he is a man of compassion, faith, and integrity. Because of how he cared for my family during our greatest hardship, I believe he is more than deserving of the Nurse Practitioner of the Year award.”

Scott’s dedication to his patients, his steady presence in moments of crisis, and his ability to treat every person with dignity truly set him apart. We are honored to have him as part of the Riverview Regional Medical Center family.

Our incredible staff showed up and showed out as we partnered with the Family Success Center and Marie Johnson at the Etowah Community Food Bank to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in our community.
