This is why we added infrared sauna therapy to the clinic — because from a TCM perspective, keeping the body warm is essential for women’s health.
It aligns so well with acupuncture in how it focuses on warming the channels, nourishing Blood, and moving stagnation in a gentle, supportive way.

Here are some of the key benefits for women’s hormones:
✨ Increases circulation
✨ Supports detoxification pathways
✨ Reduces stress & calms the nervous system
✨ Supports healthy metabolism & energy
✨ Eases inflammation & pain

At Nu Wave Acupuncture, you get a private sauna room with aromatherapy, the sound of waves, relaxing music, and full control over your entire sauna experience.

If you’ve been curious about trying the sauna—or if you’re working on menstrual health, fertility, stress, or deeper nourishment—infrared therapy is a beautiful, supportive option to add into your routine before or after your acupuncture, massage or Reiki.

As a licensed acupuncturist, I have always loved how Traditional Chinese Medicine understands the complexity of our menstrual cycle beyond just hormones. 🌙✨

TCM doesn’t just normalize or dismiss symptoms — it addresses all aspects of your cycle, from cramps and fatigue to mood swings and irregular flow, without hormonal intervention, like birth control...

That is why I wrote this blog post — to share the beauty in its understanding, how each organ is involved, and how your cycle is a constant dance of Yin into Yang and back into Yin, just like life itself 💕

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidneys do so much more than filter your blood. They are the organ of essence, vitality, and deep reserves of energy.

Here’s what they do:
✨ Store Jing & govern growth, reproduction & development – your foundation for life
✨ Control water metabolism – keeping fluids balanced in your body
✨ Are connected to emotions – fear or chronic stress can affect kidney function

When kidney Qi & Yin/Yang are balanced → you feel strong, resilient, and energized from the “inside out.”
When they’re weak or blocked → you may notice fatigue, low back/knee weakness, hormonal imbalances, or feelings of insecurity and fear.

Swipe through to see how TCM understands the kidneys and ways to support them naturally 💧

💡 Tip: Gentle movement, restorative sleep, warming foods, acupuncture, and kidney-nourishing herbs can help your kidneys stay strong and balanced.

In TCM, the winter season demands conservation of Qi, with emphasis on protecting the Kidney and Liver systems from depletion.

And with the holiday season beginning right as this seasonal phase starts, the holidays can easily scatter our Qi; the rushing, the overstimulation, the long nights, and any emotional stress all strain the Liver and Kidneys.

But remember, winter is a time for conservation, warmth, simple joy, and intentional presence. Embrace the nourishment, the peace, the inwardness, and the coziness of your home while remaining present and intentional over the holiday season.
