🍃 Wu Wei: Flowing with Life

TCM is deeply rooted in Taoist philosophy, and one of its core principles is Wu Wei — often translated as “effortless action” or “non-doing.” It’s the practice of aligning with the natural flow of life rather than forcing outcomes.

Many of my patients come in feeling stressed, overextended, often trying to control what’s outside of their control. Wu Wei reminds us to cultivate balance, patience, and harmony within ourselves, allowing healing and vitality to arise naturally with less effort and more peaceful presence.

✨ Tips to Tap Into Wu Wei:

- Observe, don’t force: Notice what’s happening without judgment and don’t try to control what is outside of you; accept as is.
- Breathe with awareness: Slow, mindful breaths throughout the day help calm the mind and body.
- Align with natural rhythms: Respect and honor your body’s cycles, energy, and limits.
- Practice gentle movement: Walking, stretching, yoga, Qi Gong, or Tai Chi are meditative movements when synced with the breath and free of judgment

By practicing Wu Wei, we create space for the body’s natural healing processes, improve Qi flow, and support long-term wellness.

✨ Moxibustion on REN 8 — The Sacred Navel Point

REN 8, also known as Shenque (Spirit Gate), is one of the most sacred points in Chinese Medicine.
It lies at the center of the navel — our original connection to life and nourishment in the womb. 🌙

Because of its sacred nature, REN 8 is never needled.
Inserting a needle here would disturb the deep essence and protective Qi of the body.
Instead, we honor it through moxibustion — the gentle warming of the point with mugwort (艾草, ai ye).

🔥 Moxa on REN 8 helps to:
• Restore vitality and life force
• Strengthen digestion and Yang energy
• Support fertility and the womb
• Reconnect us to our source of nourishment and creation

This simple yet powerful ritual invites warmth, grounding, and renewal from the very center of our being. 🌿

🌿 Acupuncture & TCM for Joint Pain

Western medicine often treats joint pain by focusing on symptom relief with meds or surgery.

In TCM, Acupuncture treats the root cause, restoring flow and balance to reduce pain and stiffness for acute and chronic joint pain.

✨ Benefits Include:
- Relieves pain & stiffness within a couple sessions
- Improves mobility & range of motion over time
- Supports long-term health & vitality

💡 Even mild stiffness can signal an imbalance. Treat this early for the best results and long term prevention.

Share with anyone you know struggling with joint pain 💕

That premenstrual rage you feel isn’t random — it’s your body asking for movement and release. ❤️‍🔥

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it’s called Liver Fire or Liver Yang Rising — when energy (Qi) gets stuck and turns into heat before your period.

🌋 The result? Irritability, snapping easily, tension, headaches, or just feeling like you’re going to explode (or actually exploding 🫣) which may also accompany headaches, red eyes, neck tension, or trouble sleeping

🌿 To prevent or treat it:
– Get acupuncture (and maybe some herbs) especially in your luteal phase
– Gentle daily movement keeps Qi flowing
– Cooling foods (greens, cucumber, mint tea) clear heat
– Less alcohol + caffeine = less internal fire
– Express what you feel when you feel it, before it starts to simmerrr!

Your emotions aren’t “too much.” They’re messages from your body about balance and way to truly honor your truest self daily 💘

The Liver in Traditional Chinese Medicine is so much more than an organ — it’s your body’s conductor of Qi flow.

It keeps Qi, Blood, and emotions moving smoothly — guiding everything from your mood and digestion, to your menstrual cycle and sense of direction in life.

When the Liver is balanced, you feel calm, clear, creative, and flexible — like a tree that bends with the wind. You can plan and think ahead, and take action on those plans.

When it’s stagnant, you might notice irritability, bloating, PMS, tension, or that feeling of being “stuck” in life.

Learning to nourish your Liver is learning to live with flow - in your body, your emotions, and your life - and to express and release.

💚 Save this post to come back to whenever you’re feeling tense, emotional, or out of balance — your Liver might be asking for some extra care.

🧐 Ever wonder why supplement and herb bottles never directly say what they are for? Or why all herbs and supplements say “not safe for pregnancy” even if they may help pregnancy in historical uses?

In the U.S., the FDA has laws in place that state herbal products are legally not allowed to claim they treat or cure any medical condition — even if they’ve been used effectively for thousands of years and supported by clinical experience with extensive anecdotal and historical evidence…

💭 Meanwhile, many new pharmaceutical drugs *are* legally allowed to make those claims — even when they’ve only been on the market for a short time, and have a laundry list of side effects discovered through the same studies they use to prove its efficacy for the said condition...

Herb and supplement uses and efficacy are limited on packaging not because of scientific reason or lack of evidence, but because the FDA has not studied them or just simply “says so”..

Before I ever became a licensed acupuncturist, my journey into health and wellness actually began with herbal supplements working at Whole Foods Market. I was a Buyer for Body Care and worked with the Supplements. During our training, we were told about this law and fear surrounding what we tell customers was pumped into us after discovering we could get fired for saying a supplement did anything other than “may assist with” or “may help with” a condition of function…

I experienced firsthand how plant medicine supported healing in a way that felt natural, empowering, and aligned with the body — without side effects. It is an honor to share that same herbal wisdom with my patients today and to see the growing interest in nature’s remedies 🤍

🫖 Both Chinese herbal formulas and American herbs are offered in many forms in the clinic depending on your preference: tablets, powders, tinctures, and loose-leaf. ✨

Whether you want to use TCM herbal supplements (our form of medication) for a complex condition or add a daily tea ritual for gentle wellness, we got you covered 🌎🍃💕

I was reviewing my class notes from 2015 and saw a quote I wrote down that my professor said:

‘We treat the whole person, not the problem’

And as I finished my day today, I reflected on my patients and cases and was going to write a list of all of the ‘conditions’ I treated, the problems I worked on, and quickly realized it isn’t that simple.

The beauty of having an acupuncturist as part of your healing journey is that you can go to ONE person, for ALL the things. And this is how healthcare SHOULD BE.

It is a fundamental flaw in the system of modern medicine that everything is separate. You see multiple doctors, may end up on multiple medications, all while not addressing the root cause of what you are feeling.

Healing and achieving your health goals relies on proper care of the body, mind and spirit. Holistic understandings of our health will always yield the greatest results over time because you are treating the whole person.

It is validating to receive a diagnosis, but it can also be very limiting, discouraging, or seem like the end. But when we combine deep awareness of what our unique symptoms are with a focus on treating the whole you, at each phase and stage over time, we can really witness some magic ✨

That is what I love about practicing Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. It’s a constant flow of solving problems naturally and long term, without needing to rely on medications your whole life. It respects and honors your uniqueness and helps you move through the human experience with ease.

We need more things that do that ❤️ especially within healthcare

To the discomfort, the serenity, the waves, the emotions, the changes, the trust, the silence, the pause, the Qi, the process ✨

Acupuncture is more than just needles - it’s a cosmic connection between your soul and the universe. It’s an energetic medicine thousands of years old that has truly stood the test of time in the medical field.

For some, it is their only hope after being failed or discouraged by modern medicine. For some, it is their only way, preferring natural solutions over chemical or surgical ones. For some, it’s a mere curiosity.

Either way, it’s an experience worth having, revisiting, and surrendering to. It provides a deep, healing pause in time and space that can bring you closer to the next step in your healing journey if you’re open to it.

It can provide relief for hormonal imbalances, pain, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, headaches, and truly everything under the sun.

But like everything, true, deep change that brings on healing takes T I M E, consistency, curiosity, adaptability, awareness, and collaboration.

Collaboration in healthcare is key 🔑 And I’m so grateful to provide this medicine to those receptive to its power and work with you in achieving your health goals ✨
