My name is Allison Nevalga, and I am a full-spectrum doula trained by Doula Trainings International, serving clients in Northern Virginia. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a Doula during one of the most pivotal and transformative points in life. My goal is to give all birthing people the tools and knowledge they need to have an informed, empowering pregnancy and birth experience. I serve at all stages of pregnancy. I can be there for your birth, miscarriage, misbirth, and/or postpartum care. I am an advocate for birth equity, informed choice/consent, as well as respect for all birthing people. My goal is to guide you throughout your whole pregnancy and birth by cultivating a space for you to feel safe, supported, and heard. Through gentle guidance and evidence-based care, I would be honored to be a part of your birth team.

One of my favorite tools to use as a Doula in a hospital setting is the squat bar which can be attached to the hospital bed. Some benefits ⬇️

✅ Squatting helps expand the pelvic outlet, allowing the baby more space to descend through the birth canal
✅ Squatting can provide a more effective pushing position, potentially making the pushing stage more efficient
✅ Some find squatting to be a more comfortable and natural position during labor and pushing.

Being a Doula is an extremely rewarding job, but when you can be Doula for one of your closest friends, it takes this job to a whole new level. Sandra is the kind of friend that you can always depend on and will support you throughout all of life's moments. She's also my sorority sister! From late nights at the bar to a late night at the hospital! She had a natural and beautiful birth. I feel so honored I was able to be a part of her birth team along with her amazing partner Allistair. She listened to her body and it was a privilege to witness Sandra stand in her power and welcome her baby earth side. Birth can be so powerful!

Being pregnant with your second can be quiet the experience. Life can feel like it's on overdrive because you're creating life 🤰🏾 while also trying to be the best parent to your first born, managing your career, maintaining your marriage, and all of life's twists and turns. It can be overwhelming and exhausting.😮‍💨 If you're pregnant, give yourself grace. This job isn't easy! You are extraordinary!

Congratulations to my friend and Doula client on her publication day for the book she illustrated Mary Can! by She's one of those extraordinary people! Sharing her gift of art to the world but especially to young girls showing them what's possible; even when you're pregnant! 🤰🏾 I have already read this book to my 4-year-old and it is amazing! She's already making connections to the lessons. 🖇️ Congratulations Ashleigh! 🎉 There's so much to be proud and I'm excited to support you on your upcoming birth! Life's next chapter!

Hi Friends! This week is World Doula Week! A time we celebrate and empower Doulas all around the world. Check out my first time being on a podcast 🫣 with my Doula mentor Doula Coach and Doula] talking about the important work we do as Doulas and how I started. If you need to take your doula business to the next level check out her Doula mentoring program!

Posted • Doula Coach and Doula] Today I get to introduce you to Allison Nevalga of . She’s another of my Doula Biz Blueprint Coaching Students. She shares a bit about her own birth stories as well as how her doula business got started and has grown. Her unique perspective from where she started in her first pregnancy to where she is now is worth a listen!

She had this to say about her experience in the Doula Biz Blueprint:

“If you feel like you need direction, I would totally suggest you really give yourself a chance at the doula coaching program, because it's access to a master doula! There has never been a time I've come to Kaely and she’s like, I don't know or that you won’t try to figure out."

My first thought 💭 Did I just birth my baby at home?! My second thought 💭 I did? 😮
I wanted to share this unfiltered and intimate journey publicly because all too often we associate birthing with fear. It doesn't have to be that way. Check out the highlights on my Instagram KayaKoDoula for my Home Birth Story in efforts to re-normalize home birth as an option for pregnant people. People have been having births at home for years. The medical system has changed the way we see and do birth; physiologically and financially. There is nothing wrong with giving birth at the hospital especially if you are high risk. The options become limited when insurance companies only cover hospital births. And many states have introduced legislation to restrict a family's access to home births. But part of renormalizing home births is to understand home births. Why are more people choosing home births?
🏠 Belief that home birth is safer than the hospital
🏠 Desire to avoid unnecessary interventions
🏠Previous negative or traumatic hospital birth experience
🏠 Control over birth decisions and choices (want to avoid strict hospital rules)
🏠 Dislike of hospitals, doctors, or medically managed birth
🏠 Desire for privacy and to avoid strangers
🏠 Trust in birth as a normal, healthy process
🏠 Lack of separation from baby, easier breastfeeding initiation
🏠 Preference for midwives as caregivers
Increased options such as delayed cord cutting or water birth
🏠 Decreased risk of Cesarean birth
🏠 Comfortable atmosphere
🏠 Family involvement during the birth (children can be present)
🏠Decreased risk of infection
🏠History of fast (precipitous) labor where it is difficult to get to the hospital in time

Postpartum support can look different for every client. It can look like help with breastfeeding, sleep for baby and mama, advice on routines, preparing light meals, straightening up the living space, or even just unpacking the whole birth experience. Whatever is looks like the 4th trimester (12 week period immediately after you had your baby) is one you should prepare for as much as labor and delivery. This picture is one of my postpartum visits. It's one of my favorite times as a Doula. 😍..

Being a Doula is so much more than supporting a birthing person, but its also witnessing a miracle and even moreso feeling someone's strength and power. This was my first official client last year. It was such an honor to be by her side in one of the most transformative times in her life. Her birth story is one I will never forget. 💓

Hard facts ⬇️

Posted • .ly "The real postpartum look 🙈💪🏼.

Exhausted.
Emotional.
Sore everywhere.
Still look 6 (or 8) months pregnant.
Swollen.
Longing for a shower.
Cramping.
Milk stains.
Often overwhelmed.

But ALSO happiness, love, joy, and strength.
Giving birth, no matter how it happens, is incredible. It’s amazing what our bodies are capable of, and what it can endure. As mothers we do this without thinking twice because what we get out of it is worth more than any of the pain we experience.

This postpartum body is just as worthy as all the versions of it that came before. It deserves to be celebrated, loved, and seen as the symbol of strength that it is! Let’s normalize and value our bodies in every season of life. We deserve it! 💛."
