Cheerful Shambhala Day!!

Today we welcome in the fresh new energy of the Year of the Fire Horse. We celebrate the energetic shift from the Year of the Wood Snake into the Year of the Fire Horse. It is a time of celebrating our local and worldwide community, our shared love of practice, and Shambhala teachings, practices, and culture.

In Tibetan astrology, the Year of the Horse is associated with qualities of energy, independence, optimism, free-spiritedness - and being very active. It is a time where natural leadership qualities can easily emerge and come to the fore. It is also a year during which there is a strong desire for freedom and self-reliance is a primary trait, as horses do not like being constrained by rules, routines, or authority and prefer to follow their own path. The element of Fire in the upcoming Year of the Horse brings us a year that could feel even more intense and dynamic, with great enthusiasm for new projects and activities. It could also mean more impulsivity and volatility, so one should take care to maintain a good seat of steadiness and strength, while still embracing the natural zest and passion of the Fire Horse Year.

Join us this Sunday February 22nd for our local sangha new year celebration! We will have our regular Sunday Practice 10-11, then a potluck and viewing of the Worldwide Shambhala Day!

Shambhala Gainesville Meditation Center celebrated the Harvest of Peace! Sunday, September 22, 2025! Join us for future events! https://gainesville.shambhala.org/

Harvest of Peace is one of Shambhala’s Nyida holidays, marking the changing of the seasons. It is a time to gather together for meditation, good food, and good conversation. A time to contemplate what nourishes, strengthens, and sustains us, individually, and as a community.

Appreciation is at the heart of this Harvest of Peace celebration. We have so much to be thankful for β€” the teachings of our lineage, our beautiful space, the talents and generosity of our community, our sangha, and time spent together.
