What an incredible evening!

I had the privilege of presenting at our recent CME event for primary care providers, where I discussed newer bariatric procedures, endobariatrics, and introduced our bariatric program—including our unique ability to offer panniculectomy services to qualifying bariatric patients.

This event marked an important milestone as our first CME under NGHS after the integration of our Longstreet Clinic practice into the NGHS system. My partners and I also shared updates on modern obesity care and revisional bariatric surgery.

The room was full, the energy was great, and the questions and discussions were fantastic. Huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this such a successful night!

Excited for what’s ahead as we continue building a stronger, more comprehensive approach to obesity treatment in our community. 💙

Thanksgiving is almost here, and for many who have had bariatric surgery, the holiday can bring mixed emotions. The table is full of tradition, family recipes, and celebration—but it’s also okay if you feel a little nervous about how to navigate it in a healthy way.

Being a doctor is one of the most rewarding careers — but it’s no secret that it can also be demanding, stressful, and exhausting at times. Over the years, I’ve learned that in order to truly care for others, I have to make time to care for myself too.

For me, that means stepping away from the hospital and getting outdoors. Whether I’m kayaking down a quiet river or riding a mountain bike trail, being outside helps me clear my mind, de-stress, and recharge so I can be the best version of myself — for my patients, my family, and my team.

This Doctor’s Day, I was grateful to receive a thoughtful gift from Northeast Georgia Health System. It’s a simple but meaningful reminder of how important it is to find balance, step outside, and breathe.
