Building a healthy foundation for The Gator Nation since 1906, the UF Student Health Care Center (SHCC) is an accredited outpatient facility staffed by licensed, board-certified health care professionals committed to helping all patients achieve maximum physical and emotional health. BILLING & INSURANCE

At the SHCC, the tuition-included University health fee covers patient financial responsibility associated with most office visits — for example, when a health care provider evaluates a sick patient but does not order any tests, procedures or prescriptions. NOTE: The health fee, a UF fee paid as part of tuition, goes to many campus-wide health initiatives and does not cover all possible medical charges at the SHCC. As a service to our patients, the SHCC will forward a claim to a commercial insurance carrier if all appropriate information — including the policy number, group number and company mailing address — is provided. NOTE: While SHCC staff is available to help, it is the patient’s responsibility to know what their insurance policy covers, and the patient is ultimately liable for any charges not covered by insurance. Contact the insurance company in advance of care to learn about policy benefits in detail. When does my health insurance waiver expire?

Here’s how to find your waiver's expiration date in under one minute:

Step 1: Visit shcc.ufl.edu/status and log in to the Student Self-Service Portal using your gatorlink credentials.

Step 2: Click the “Insurance” tab in the menu (look for the umbrella icon ☂️).

Step 3: Scroll down until you see your waiver submission. Look for the words "Expiration date of coverage". This is the date your insurance waiver will expire.

👉 Most waivers are active for three consecutive semesters (about one year).

⏳ If your waiver is still under review, please allow 2–3 weeks for processing.

⚠️ Friendly reminder: Don’t submit multiple waivers. This can slow down the review process.

Already submitted your Spring 2026 waiver? Perfect. Please give us 2 to 3 weeks to review it.

And FYI, sending more than one waiver slows things down, so please don't submit more than one waiver.

Set a reminder. Tell your roommates. Knock it out before spring semester arrives.

The Student Health Care Center will remain open for urgent and acute care during winter break, operating on modified hours. Please call 352-392-1161 to make an appointment.

Hours:
Dec. 22–23: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Dec. 24–25: Closed
Dec. 26: 8 a.m. – noon
Dec. 29–31: 8 a.m. – noon
Jan. 1–2: Closed

If you need to speak with a medical provider for urgent medical advice after hours, please call 352-392-1161 and follow the prompts to reach our on-call provider. For medical emergencies, please call 911.

📞 If you have refills remaining: Call the pharmacy at 352-392-1760.
👩‍⚕️ If you are out of refills and need a provider to order more: Call 352-392-1161 ASAP to schedule with a provider. End-of-semester appointments fill up fast, and last-minute requests may cause delays.

Every year, the American Cancer Society challenges people to go one day without to***co or ni****ne. One day can be the first step toward quitting for good.

UF Area Health Education Center (AHEC) will be tabling at the Plaza of the Americas to help students and community members take that step. Stop by, sign the pledge to quit ni****ne and get a $12 Florida Fresh Dining voucher or a free lemonade from Raising Cane’s.

For Ryan, a PhD candidate at UF, grad school wasn’t research and routines. It was exhaustion, skipped meals and health problems piling up fast. 😓

Then came a referral to SHCC dietitian Hannah Stahmer, and a completely different approach to nutrition.

No judgment. No restriction. Just realistic tools, campus resources and support that actually fit his life. 💪
