On the cutting edge of innovation, Longstreet Clinic partnered with Northeast Georgia Medical Center to help establish the hospital’s first inpatient medicine program in 1997 in Gainesville which would later grow and expand throughout the NGMC footprint. Hospitalists specialize in serving those patients who are admitted to the medical center. Later, Longstreet Clinic also helped initiate the region’s first Pediatric Hospitalist Program to extend specialized coverage to patients of all ages.

Our community is fortunate to have incredible surgeons and leaders like Dr. Richard! Congratulations on this milestone!

7,000 surgeries and a lifetime of impact! Dr. Robert Richard, bariatric surgeon with Longstreet Clinic and medical director for NGMC’s Bariatric Weight Loss Center, has surpassed 7,000 bariatric surgeries in his career. From performing his first weight-loss surgery in the Army in 1998 to transforming lives in Northeast Georgia since 2002, Dr. Richard’s dedication has shaped one of the most comprehensive bariatric programs in the state. Thank you, Dr. Richard, for your outstanding commitment to changing lives!

Since 1999, our Cancer Center has been dedicated to delivering the highest quality, compassionate care to the cancer patients in our community. In fact, when we initially received our Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPi) certification, Longstreet Clinic was one of only two programs in the state of Georgia and one of only 116 in the country to receive this designation. We have also grown from one main Cancer Center in Gainesville, to having locations in Toccoa and Braselton. But through it all our focus remains on our patients.

Since Longstreet Clinic’s inception 30 years ago, we have been dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of our community both inside and outside our Clinic’s walls. With a specific passion for health and wellness and women’s and children’s causes, our team has dedicated countless volunteer hours, served on community boards, and sponsored events and organizations that help extend healthcare services into the community.

Two notable initiatives have been a partnership with Good News Clinics and the Health Access Initiative where our providers, specialists and teams have provided countless hours of volunteer time to our communities uninsured. Additionally, Longstreet has dedicated significant resources to the development and operation of the Health Department’s Prenatal Clinic. Our goal is simple – to make the entire community a better place for everyone.

For 30 years, parents have trusted us in the care of their children. In fact, Pediatrics was one of the founding specialties of Longstreet Clinic, and we now serve the largest pediatric population in Northeast Georgia. Last year alone, we took care of about 47,000 children! That number is the size of the population of Gainesville city 🤩. We also are proud of our WeeCare clinic — the only office of its kind dedicated for ONLY newborn well check visits up to 6 months of age.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The submissions for our annual door decorating contest are bringing smiles to patients, staff and visitors at our locations across northeast Georgia! Thank you to our judges, retired LC family physicians Dr. Alfredo Jaume and Dr. Bill Manus (along with their lovely wives), Kevin Matson with Northeast Georgia Health System, Wendy Jackson of Jackson Designs and Interiors, and Corey Trotman and Barbara Rhodes with the Norton Agency (not pictured)! Winners will be announced on Thursday at 2:30 at a celebration in the atrium of our 725 Jesse Jewell Pkwy SE location (Building A). Join us for refreshments and a performance by the Chestatee Academy 8th Grade Chorus, or stop by before Christmas to enjoy these festive doors for yourselves!
