As summer winds down, many children with autism may find the transition back to school overwhelming — and that’s completely okay! 💙

Here are two powerful tools to help make the shift smoother and more predictable:

🗓️ Visual Schedules
Using pictures or icons to lay out the day helps children know what to expect. From waking up to catching the bus to arriving at school — visuals can turn the unknown into the manageable.

📖 Social Stories
Short stories that explain what will happen during the school day (like meeting a new teacher or lining up for lunch) help reduce anxiety and build confidence. Make it personal and use real names, pictures, or even drawings!

🌟 Pro Tip: Start practicing NOW! Preview the school routine at home with practice mornings and countdown calendars. Slowly reintroduce earlier bedtimes and school-day routines.
