What an amazing day we had! The 6th annual Run 4 Recovery was a success! Each year in September we gather together for a morning of connection to bring awareness to an important cause. Last weekend we enjoyed a beautiful day at Depot Park to run/walk in celebration of those in recovery. 1 in 10 individuals in the US meet criteria for a substance use diagnosis. While addiction can be a lonely road, the path to recovery is built on connection, one step at a time! Thank you to everyone who came out and showed their support!

We wouldn't have been able to put it all together without the help of our amazing sponsors!

Carl and Joan Allison have pledged to give up to $100,000 in memory of their son, Dr. Jared Carl Allison, who was a Florida Recovery Center alumnus, but we need 40 donors to unlock it! Every 10 donors who make gifts to support FRC and addiction recovery unlocks a $25,000 donation from the Allison family until we reach the full $100,000. Your gift still makes a difference beyond 40 donors, so keep the momentum going and take a stand for the UF Health Florida Recovery Center.

We are so grateful for individuals like Burt who are joining others on Gator Giving Day. See why he chose to support FRC:

“I’m inspired to give because I know what it’s like to need help and not know where to turn. Recovery isn’t just about abstinence; it’s about rebuilding a life, and that takes support, structure, and access to quality treatment. The Florida Recovery Center provides that. I see the impact of addiction every day in my work, and I know that for many people, the only thing standing between them and healing is access to care.

Giving to this cause is about more than just money, it’s about investing in people who are trying to reclaim their lives. It’s about honoring the professionals who dedicate themselves to this work and making sure the next person who walks through those doors has a real shot at recovery. Addiction is a disease that thrives in isolation, but recovery happens in the community. If I can be part of building that community, even in a small way, then I want to do that.

There was a time when I needed help and people showed up for me. Now it’s my turn.”
