A great way to strengthen your communication skills is through the use of “I Feel” statements. These statements can help build connection and allow for a way to clearly communicate needs without conveying blame. You can follow a simple formula to begin that goes like, “When (this happens), I feel (emotion) because (why you feel this way). In the future I would prefer that (what action would be more helpful in the future). This phrasing can allow for empathy to grow while allowing for a conversation to continue.
