Asbury Methodist Village was in excellent form at our Spring Open House, welcoming more than 100 guests for an afternoon of connection and discovery!

With the help of over 35 dedicated resident ambassador volunteers, guests were warmly greeted and given tours of nine available apartments in the Diamond and Wallace buildings. Two resident homes were also graciously opened as “real life” showcases, offering a true glimpse into life at Asbury.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about our Wellness Team, explore resident groups and activities. We were also joined by four wonderful vendor partners who shared helpful information on real estate, moving, and downsizing.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

We had a meaningful and inspiring Parkinson’s Awareness Week at Asbury Methodist Village.

From an indoor Parkinson’s Walk with James Warner, to the beautiful artwork created in our PD Brush Strokes class, to a high-energy Drums for Parkinson’s session led by Well-being Manager Mo (featuring Djembe drums from West Africa), each experience celebrated movement, creativity, and community.

We wrapped up the week with a special Friends and Family presentation, where residents shared their journeys, participants were recognized, and loved ones were honored for their incredible support.

A heartfelt thank-you to our well-being team for bringing it all together.

Asbury’s Centennial Celebration: Celebrating a Century of Service.

Over 100 years ago today, April 15, 1926, a dream took shape and became a reality. The first five residents of what was then known as the Asbury Home moved into the community.

A century later, Asbury Methodist Village residents gathered in the Guild Chapel for a Multifaith Centennial Celebration Service to honor the beginning of what has grown into a vibrant home for more than 1,000 residents.

The Celebration included poetry about Asbury Methodist Village, hymns, inspiring speeches, and fellowship by Rev. Dr. Gerard Green, who has had a long history with Asbury.

Today, Asbury continues to live out its Guiding Principle, which remains true to its origin: “of doing all the good we can with integrity, transparency, and grace.” We celebrate the dreamers, visionaries, residents, associates, and volunteers who have shaped Asbury Methodist Village into what it is today.

Asbury marked its Centennial with a memorable evening honoring 100 years of music, and what a celebration it was! 🎉

The night began with a delightful wine and cheese mixer, where residents gathered with friends and neighbors to enjoy a variety of wines while listening to music spanning the decades.

The celebration continued with an incredible performance by the amazing Olney Big Band, featuring a lively mix of swing, dance, jazz, and popular tunes from the 1930s, ’40s, ’50s, and today. The music had everyone tapping their feet and enjoying the moment!

Guests left the evening buzzing and in great spirits. What a wonderful way to celebrate 100 years of community, connection, and joy. 💙💛

Our amazing Asbury Associates were celebrated in style at this year’s Associate Appreciation Event: Carousel of Cultures! 🎉

From delicious flavors from around the globe to lively music and fun-filled games, the day was a vibrant celebration of the many cultures that make our community so special.

Thank you to all Asbury Methodist Village associates for the heart, dedication, and diversity you bring each and every day, and for the care you show to the residents, fellow associates, and everyone around you. You truly make Asbury shine!

We are so proud of Asbury Methodist Village residents Gary Temple and Mary Ellen Bliss for their recent participation in a special pre-concert performance at Strathmore!

Gary and Mary Ellen joined talented musicians Yoshi Horiguchi and Kimia Hesabi for a beautiful 15-minute performance in the Strathmore Lobby ahead of the National Philharmonic concert, French Masters: Ravel, Debussy, and Tailleferre. What an incredible opportunity to showcase their talent and represent our community so wonderfully.

A heartfelt thank you to the National Philharmonic, through the Iris Music Project, for inviting our residents to be part of such a meaningful and inspiring experience. Thank you also to Kimia and Yoshi for their collaboration and support in working with the residents on this performance.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity and proud of how Asbury Methodist Village residents continue to shine both on and off campus.

💃🏾🕺🏻February’s Wellness Wednesday at Asbury Methodist Village was a joyful celebration of Asbury’s 100-year legacy. Residents celebrated through movement, music, shared memories, and dancing through the decades! 💃🏾🕺🏻

From the Charleston and Swing to the Twist, Disco, the Stroll (yes, the original!), and today’s line dances, residents in their late 70s through 90s filled the room with energy, confidence, and pure joy.

What made the day unforgettable wasn’t just the choreography; it was the connection. Music sparked memories. Movement sparked laughter. Community sparked life.

At Asbury, wellness goes beyond the gym. It’s about honoring stories, celebrating legacy, and creating vibrant experiences that keep the beat going at every age.

Music, Memories, and a Beautiful Homecoming Concert at Asbury!

The Rosborough Theater was filled with melody and magic as the Iris Music Project, in collaboration with OnStage at Asbury and the National Philharmonic at Strathmore, brought their Homecoming Concert to Asbury Methodist Village!

Talented musicians Yoshi Horiguchi (bass), Kimia Hesabi (viola), Amyr Joyner (violin), and Liz Hill (piano) performed both group and individual pieces, including works by William Grant Still, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, and others.

This Saturday, Yoshi and Liz are joining forces with our very own AMV residents for an unforgettable afternoon of music. Together, they will perform beloved selections from The Music Man, Guys and Dolls, Show Boat, The Fantasticks, and more.

From toe-tapping rhythms to nostalgic melodies that will bring back cherished memories.

There’s something special about live music. It connects generations, sparks stories, and reminds us that the arts are alive and thriving right here at AMV.
