UPCOMING project announcement! Galena’s City Council approved our next initiative to make Galena more accessible! Galena’s historic plaques and maps placed around the city are filled with visually-accessed text and images, beneficial to locals and tourists alike. We will be modifying the 25 plaques that are maintained by the city by adhering a QR code that links to a corresponding audio track on our website. The audio will describe the contents of the plaque, including dictating any text that is present. We will also include information about present location in relation to important landmarks, any pictures displayed on the plaque, and other information we find pertinent to the display. Anyone will be able to access this information by scanning the code using their device. We plan to work on the audio components of this project through the Winter and start modifying the plaques in the early Spring.
