CFA's Urgent Crisis Hours are EXPANDING!! Starting Saturday, November 11, 2023, our Urgent Crisis Center will begin providing weekend services!

🕛 New Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM & Saturday 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
📍255 Hempstead Street, New London, CT 06320

The Urgent Crisis Center provides walk-in care to children and teens experiencing an urgent mental health or behavioral crisis, including:

- Thoughts of su***de or self-injury
- Feelings of depression, anxiety, or hopelessness
- Out-of-control behaviors
- Substance misuse
- Any mental health crisis

CFA’s UCC is not an Emergency Department. Call 9-1-1 or visit the nearest hospital if a youth needs immediate medical attention or is in immediate danger of hurting themselves or others.

Often we resort to survival mode in times of stress, we do what we need to do to get through the struggle in the moment. Sometimes that may look like eating more fast food on the fly, drinking coffee like it’s water, forgetting to take care of your hygiene needs, or sleeping just enough to get by. These things may feel necessary in the short term to function, but cause more impacts on your mental health in the long run. Making yourself a priority even in times of stress is essential for maintaining your ability to function and problem solve.

Feeling your feelings is one of the hardest things in the world. Often- people find themselves avoiding feelings at all costs, whether that’s through distracting activities, taking risks, using substances, you name it. The thing to remember is that you can’t always pick and choose what feelings you feel. So this week remember- feel those feelings, happy, sad, mad and everything in between!
