It's never too cold to celebrate National Strawberry Ice Cream Day! We enjoyed strawberry milkshakes and laughter in the activity room today.

National Whipped Cream Day calls for a chocolate pie with whipped cream in the Activity Room! Some of us enjoyed the pie while watching the news, and others enjoyed it while participating in some light coloring.

Holiday spirit was in full swing at Seminary Manor this past week!

Our staff enjoyed a fun-filled holiday week with festive dress-up days, ornament making, a popcorn bar, hot cocoa bar, donuts, and exciting raffle baskets. Staff also decorated their spaces for a chance to win a pizza party! 🍕🎁

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas… Communication is Key!

• Keep conversations to one topic. Multiple conversations occurring at the same time may prove overwhelming to your loved on.

• Using long pauses between sentences can increase your loved one’s ability to understand what you are communicating, and will help with their delay in processing.

• It is very common for someone with cognitive impairment to ask about loved ones who have passed, to look for their mom or dad, or to make statements that you know to be inaccurate. In your loved one’s mind, all they are saying is true. It is best to enter into their reality and redirect the conversation to a different topic rather than to correct them.

On Sunday, the Galesburg Covenant Children's Choir packed goodie bags, delivered them to the residents at Seminary Village, and sang Christmas Carols! 🎁🎶⛄

The kids brought so much joy through their smiles and songs. It was a sweet and meaningful afternoon for everyone involved!
