General Mills has committed to getting artificial dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 6 out of their products, but still no word on the Caramel Color or BHT in their cereals.

I used to eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch nearly every day when I was a kid and now I can’t believe they use the same caramel coloring linked to cancer that we successfully campaigned to get removed from Starbucks drinks back in 2015.

🚫 There are four different types of caramel color and two of those types (Class III and IV) contain the dangerous substance 4-methylimidazole, a carcinogen.

🚫 You won’t find the type of caramel color on an American ingredient label, although we reached out to General Mills and they confirmed via email that they use Class 4 Caramel Color in Cinnamon Toast Crunch here in the U.S.

General Mills produces the SAME cereal in a joint venture with Nestle called Curiously Cinnamon in the UK without this controversial chemical.

Why don’t they remove caramel color and BHT for Americans too?
