Since March is National Social Work Month, it’s time to highlight some of our awesome Social Work team! Meet Shelly Ranegar, Hospice Social Worker and Bereavement Coordinator! She has worked with Holzer for 17 years.

Shelly says, “In 2004, my mother passed away. Holzer Hospice made a tremendous impact on me during that tough time. As a result, I became a social worker. What I love most about being a hospice social worker is comforting patients and their families during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. I value the process of helping them find comfort, dignity, emotional support, and peace, while ensuring they never feel alone.”

Shelly talks about the work environment, saying, “Holzer is a place where friends become family. Our philosophy is this: “The patient is the center of all we do.” This statement aligns with my values as a hospice social worker.” Outside of work, Shelly likes to spend time with her wonderful family. Overall, her life is filled with family, love, and laughter!
