Winter Weather Update
Gallia County residents are advised to prepare for an upcoming winter storm expected to impact our area this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Gallia County, effective Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. through Monday, January 26, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
What to Expect:
• A significant accumulation of snow is possible, along with the potential for icing.
• Hazardous travel conditions are likely, especially from Saturday night through Sunday.
• Roads, bridges, and sidewalks may become slick and dangerous.
• Cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills are expected to follow the storm into early next week.
Preparedness and Public Information:
• The Gallia County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will monitor this storm throughout the weekend and provide updates as conditions change.
• Please note that social media pages are not monitored 24/7. If you need immediate, non-emergency assistance, contact the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 740-446-3126.
• Updates will be shared on the Gallia County EMA/LEPC page, as well as through local media outlets.

• Residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for the county’s emergency notification system, CodeRED.
• CodeRED provides road condition updates, emergency notifications, and optional weather alerts.

Important Reminders:
• Please do not call 911 for road condition updates or power restoration times. 911 is for emergencies only.
• Check on family members, neighbors, pets, livestock, and especially elderly residents during this event.
• If using kerosene heaters, propane heaters, or any heat source with an open flame, follow all manufacturer safety guidelines and ensure you have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home.
• If using a generator, operate it outside and away from the residence to prevent carbon monoxide from entering the home. Carbon monoxide detectors are strongly recommended.
• Warming centers are on standby and will be opened if conditions warrant or requests increase.
