Family Medicine Associates is a privately owned, local business. I am a local physician, raised in Gallup, and a graduate of Gallup High School and the University of New Mexico. Doctor Andrade has been in practice since July 2003 and is fluent in Spanish. I am board certified and the volunteer team physician for Gallup High School and Miyamura High School. I am a mentor for area high school students interested in entering the medical field, as well as a preceptor for medical students and physician assistant students from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. I want to apologize to all the wonderful patients of Family Medicine Associates for the past couple of chaotic weeks. I am working furiously to ensure all of my amazing patients are cared for and have options to continue medical care. I have the following important updates for all.

I am in serious negotiations and hopeful to have a group from New Mexico take over the office management and patient care for all patients of Family Medicine Associates in the next couple of months. With this being said, I have been asked by this group to be open to do telemedicine patient visits until August 29, 2025, which I have agreed to do. The times at which I will call may be variable due to travel and moving but if you need a telemedicine visit, this can be scheduled by calling the office, 505-722-6603.

If you have transferred your care to a different provider, you can continue to see your new provider, or if you want, you can schedule to be seen at Family Medicine, by me via telemedicine until August 29 or hopefully with a new provider that will be available in the future, and we still have your chart.

If you want to transfer care, please call the office for your records which we can either print or put on a flash drive, or you can have your new provider call the office to get records. Please be patient with my staff as they continue to work through this chaotic time and know that we are trying our best to care for you all.

Once again, I apologize for the uncertainty of the last few weeks, but I am hopeful a great solution will be available soon for everyone.

Hello all. I just wanted to give a quick update regarding my office, Family Medicine Associates. I am pleased to announce I have signed a letter of intent to sell the practice, building, land, and equipment to Heartland Clinics of America. I ask for prayers that this sale now will go through quickly and easily. I am being assured by Hearland that they will place a provider at the office and are in negotiations with a future NP, who is from Gallup and attended Gallup High School and did her family medicine rotation with me this past year, to join the practice in January of 2026. I will provide further updates, but as of now, God willing, my office will continue to provide care for my community. Thank you! God is great and not dead!

22 years ago I returned to my hometown of Gallup with Aedra. We arrived home fresh out of residency, excited to give back to an amazing and wonderful community. We were honored to be such a vital part of the community and to be able to give back to my hometown. For the first 6 years working for RMCH and the last 16 years in private practice, and Aedra for her first 10 years at PMS WNMG and the last 12 years at RMCH, we were honored to be able to care for so many in this amazing town.
The community watched as our family grew from just Aedra and I to our current family with Iliana, Xavi and Ysa. We established so many wonderful relationships and friends that became like family. The community supported us during the great times and most importantly during the hardest times of our lives when we lost our amazing Angel Santana Milagros. Our community supported us during this hard time, and helped us survive this devastating loss. One of my patients saved my life by merely asking me how I was doing, because I was always asking how others were doing and that it was my turn to be supported. Our amazing community supported us when my dad and mom both passed and were always there to lift us up.
It was truly an honor and a privilege of my lifetime to have been able to give back to my community and my hometown. I have been honored to have mentored so many students and am proud of all of them as they have gone on to succeed in medicine and in life. We are honored our community trusted their care to us and even though there are times we may not have agreed, we respected our differences. Gallup is an amazing town and it is hard to watch as our town has changed and our state has made it more difficult to practice medicine here.
After a great deal of thought, prayers, trust in God, and sleepless nights, Aedra and I have made the agonizing decision to leave Gallup. We have accepted positions with Mercy Healthcare in Joplin, Missouri. Our official last day seeing patients will be Friday July 18, 2025. I will provide more details about my office, Family Medicine Associates, as I am working out a deal to sell the practice to another entity to ensure my patients are taken care of and have a provider to see. We will provide further updates, but want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for an amazing 22 years. We love you all and will forever be grateful to our hometown. Never say never, this is not goodbye, but a see you later. God is great and truly not dead!!!
