🌟MEET OUR MEMBERS🌟

Sarah Cegelski is this year's Resiterns President and has been in Resiterns since 2018. In a former life, Sarah got her Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) and taught Spanish at the college and high school levels. Now, she is a stay-at-home parent to three children and works part-time as a Spanish tutor and academic copyeditor. She is married to Jeff Cegelski (Anesthesiology PGY-4) and they have 3 kids (Calvin, Julian, and Stella). They love to go on date nights to DTO, watch stand-up comedy specials, and take their kids to the beach.

"I'm BOI (Born on the Island), and after many years living elsewhere, I never imagined I'd be living in Galveston again! Even though I'm from here, Resiterns has been such an important support for me and my family during residency. No one gets the medical training journey like other people who are on it with you! I love connecting with other amazing "trailing spouses" and help plan fun events, and Jeff loves the chance to hang out with other residents outside the hospital. Our favorite Resiterns events are the happy hours because we love to meet up for chill drinks with friends, and also Friendsgiving, which we host at my parents' house on the bay!"

We had a great time at the Newcomers Brunch, we had some very delicious food and look how fancy our members looked while drinking mimosas and bellinis, thank you all for coming! 😀

The Beach Bash was perfect, and it was all thanks to our amazing members, we enjoyed the beautiful weather, ate tons of hot-dogs, and s'mores. 😋❤️🏖

🌟MEET OUR MEMBERS🌟

Evelyn Marlow is our Family Events Chair and has been part of Resiterns since 2019. She works at UTMB as a contracted float nurse and part-time as her church’s music director. She is married to Kevin Brown, a PGY-3 Internal Medicine resident. They love traveling Texas, dancing, board games, Broadway shows, and treating friends to Kevin’s mixology talents. They have a one-year-old and two cats.

“The best part of Resiterns is the instant family and friends the group provides. We are from Seattle and completed med school there too, so transferring here was bit of a culture shock and Resiterns made the transition easier. We made great friends within the group and relied heavily on the support they offered after giving birth to our son during a difficult PGY-2 year. We love being part of Resiterns and are always looking for ways to pay it forward!”

🌟Meet our Members🌟

Abril Santos is our Social Media Chair and has been a Resiterns Member for 4 years! She is an M.D. herself and currently works at Advanced Dermatology as a Medical Assistant. She is married to Fernando, a PGY-4 Gen Surg resident, they love attending to concerts, playing videogames together and going out with friends for a beer, and they have two cats named Obi-Wan Catnobi and Sashimi.

"What I love about Resiterns is the sense of community and support, it's almost as if we're all a big family, we're in this together. My husband and I are both from Mexico, and Resiterns made our transition to Galveston very easy, everyone in the group was super welcoming and helpful. Fernando's favorite event is Top Golf, and mine is definitely the Ladies' Brunch!"
