We are thrilled to announce that the UTMB Health Education Center (HEC) has achieved full accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). This prestigious recognition highlights our institution's excellence in healthcare education, with the HEC meeting the rigorous standards in the areas of Core, Teaching/Education, and Assessment.

With this accomplishment, UTMB becomes the first institution in the University of Texas system to achieve these distinguished levels of accreditation through SSH, joining the top 10% of simulation centers in the U.S.

Shelley Smith, Director of IPE, was celebrated today at a reception to announce her retirement from UTMB. Shelley joined UTMB in 2014 and founded the IPE Department and the IPE Core Curriculum, which has created interprofessional learning opportunities for students across UTMB. Special thanks to Music In Medicine at UTMB for sharing your amazing talent. Congratulations Shelley, you will be missed.
