“Age is not a matter of years; it’s a matter of condition. You can keep your health up until you die because you have 75 to 90 trillion cells in your body that work symbiotically on your behalf striving towards health. You cut yourself? It’s going to heal without a thought. It just does,” Dr. Wayne Pickering

Dr. Pickering, a naturopathic physician, explains the three basic guidelines of health, and highlights the importance of food combining to optimize digestion.

I was thinking about the stories from 1001 Arabian nights (we've all heard the stories about Aladdin and Ali Baba), and I wondered--exactly how long is 1001 nights. Its basically 2 years and 9 months. Then I thought--what if someone decided to undertake something and commit to it for 1001 days--how would their life change in the next 2 3/4 years? It could even be a small change like committing to walking a mile 3 x's a week. Or it could be a business goal. What would you be willing to do for 1001 days to see what happened? This could be a lot of fun!

Sorry I've been absent so long! I spent 10 days in Disney World with family and a few more in Charleston, SC. These are 2 of my favorite places in the world. Why? Because they remind me of great times with my family. I am blessed to be someone who adores their family and covets the time I have with them. I cherish our memories more than anything. I would rather be eating a bowl of soup in a crowded room overflowing with noisy Hayeses and crazy Cortiellas than eating chateaubriand and lobster tails at the finest restaurant. Wait, if they're serving a good cabernet, I may have to rethink that.... (just kidding!!!)

What makes you happy? Did you know just thinking about a place or a person who makes you happy will negate the effect of stress for several minutes. Try it now and see if visualizing your pet, your last vacation, your child or grandchild doesn't bring a smile to your face and give you a lift. You can do this anytime you need a mental break or just a breather. Try it. Its good for you!

Is it Magic? No, its Science!

Every once in a while I come across something that seems a bit to good to be true--even in medicine! As physicians and scientist, we are taught to be skeptical. We put everything through a rigorous scrutiny and repeat the tests over and over to make sure the answer is always the same--sometimes to exhaustion. So when I first heard about redox signaling biochemistry and signaling molecules--I was fascinated. This was a fairly new branch of science that was having a huge impact on what we know about health at the cellular level. This is where healing takes place. The body is remarkable-a miracle in its own right--so it is not hard to accept how intricate the workings are--how marvelous. We accept that things happen in our body so quickly we can not even perceive them. A tiny sting causes immediate swelling. Our hand flies from a hot surface before we ever feel the burn. Truly amazing. So I could totally accept that tiny molecules that were once thought to be waste products from a cellular process were discovered to be extremely bioactive and important--in everything from cell and nuclear protection to intra and inter cellular communication, immune system activation, cellular transport, anti-oxidant activation, cell repair, restoration or replacement, and the list goes on.

What I couldn't grasp was that scientists were able to develop these tiny, fleeting molecules outside the body--and from just salt and water!!! Not only could they make them--they found a way to stabilize them! Seems impossible and improbable--but its true.

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting and spending time with the man who cracked the code, Dr. Gary Samuelson--a medical atomic physicist, and author of "The Science of Healing Revealed: New Insights into Redox Signaling." Dr. Samuelson was able to take technology that had been developed and studied for 17 years--with amazing results and determine the mechanism of action and the process for developing and stabilizing these tiny molecules outside the body. There are only 2 places you can find these amazing molecules: in the body and in the solution that Dr. Samuelson developed. These molecules that are so involved in almost every aspect of cellular function- that diminish as we get older, leading to decreases in cellular function and efficiency (we call this aging)- that are foundational for healing at the cellular level-- are now available to replenish our bodies! And those that have discovered them are having amazing results. This could well be the biggest health science discovery of our lifetime. And I am happy to share it with you--its called ASEA. For more information, message me. You can also watch short videos by physicians and/or athletes at www.Amazingmolecules.net. Take a few minutes and be prepared to doubt. But remember--its not magic-its science!

My husband and I have both decided to follow my advice and start the Mediterranean diet. We were both dismayed, however, to find out that the diet did NOT include big bowls of spaghetti and meatballs--nor garlic bread. LOL! I guess that explains why I gained 2 sizes when we went to Italy on our honeymoon!
