We are accepting applications for the 2024 Master Gardener Training Course through November 1st, 2023. Apply now to join our network of volunteer educators and grow with us!🌱

The Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program connects University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, plant enthusiasts, and communities across the state. Master Gardeners teach community members how to use plants and gardening to improve their environment, personal health, and quality of life. In Chatham County, Master Gardeners research and answer plant-related questions, develop and deliver horticultural presentations to various audiences, maintain and utilize demonstration gardens throughout the county, and much more.

The training course prepares interested volunteers for their role. Topics include soils, plant biology, native plants, vegetable gardening, integrated pest management, and more. Lectures and hands-on labs are taught by local experts, including horticulturists, arborists, university professors, experienced Master Gardeners, and Extension professionals.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens, located at 2 Canebrake Rd. in Savannah, GA. Class begins January 24th, 2024 and meets weekly through May 15th, 2024. The course fee of $275.00 includes all materials for the 17-week course, including a copy of the 8th Edition Georgia Master Gardener Handbook.
