Is low testosterone sneaking up on you? (Yes, women too.)

It’s normal for testosterone to decline slightly with age, but when fatigue, low motivation, poor sleep, or stubborn weight gain start to show up, there’s usually more going on beneath the surface.

For men, testosterone typically starts to dip after age 30, often leading to lower energy, mood changes, reduced muscle tone, and brain fog.

For women, testosterone also plays a vital role in energy, libido, muscle strength, and focus, and low levels can contribute to fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, and feeling “off” during perimenopause or menopause.

But here’s the thing: low testosterone isn’t just about getting older. Stress, poor nutrition, toxins, insulin resistance, and disrupted sleep can all interfere with how your body makes and uses hormones.

That’s why we don’t just test one number, we look at your whole system: cortisol, thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, metabolism, inflammation, and nutrient balance.
Because true hormone balance is about understanding why it’s off and restoring it in a way that supports your entire body.

💪 Through a functional medicine approach and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (HRT) when appropriate, we help both men and women regain energy, clarity, and confidence naturally.

📍Schedule your comprehensive hormone assessment today and start feeling like yourself again.

3 things functional medicine practitioners don’t think are healthy… but other “healthy people” do regularly

1️⃣ Low-fat & diet foods – marketed as “better for you,” but usually packed with sugar or artificial ingredients that wreak havoc on blood sugar + gut health.

2️⃣ Drinking from plastic water bottles & sparkling water like La Croix – BPA, phthalates, and other chemicals can leach into your drinks, potentially disrupting hormones and gut health. Glass or stainless steel is the safer choice.

3️⃣ Over-exercising or HIIT workouts for every workout– more cardio isn’t always better. Too much can actually raise cortisol, stress your adrenals, and throw hormones out of balance.

Which of these surprised you the most?

Your hormones aren’t just about reproduction...they’re literally running the show behind the scenes every single day.

They influence your energy, mood, sleep, metabolism, focus, and even how your body handles stress and cravings. When your hormones are in sync, you feel grounded, strong, and clear-headed. When they’re not… everything can feel “off,” even if your labs look “normal.”

Understanding your hormonal rhythm is like learning your body’s language. Whether you’re cycling monthly or noticing changes with perimenopause or menopause, tuning into what’s happening beneath the surface helps you make choices that actually work with your body not against it.

Scroll through each of the 4 phases…. Menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal.

Tired but wired at night? Your screen might be to blame.

Blue light from phones, TVs, and laptops suppresses melatonin, your sleep hormone, for up to 2 HOURS after exposure. That means scrolling before bed is basically telling your brain, “Stay awake!”

And with less daylight this time of year, your circadian rhythm is already working harder to stay in sync. Less natural light exposure during the day + more artificial light at night = confused hormones and restless sleep.

Try this instead:
-Read a book
-Use a red light or dim lamp
-Power down your devices 1–2 hours before sleep

Your circadian rhythm (a.k.a. your internal clock) will thank you with deeper sleep, better energy, and balanced hormones.

HRT: Wins vs Warnings

We want to talk straight about the benefits and the potential side effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy, especially the EvexiPEL pellet method.

The Wins:
Balanced hormones = better moods, deeper sleep, fewer hot flashes, steady energy, improved focus, and a stronger sense of YOU again.

Pellets deliver steady, bioidentical hormones that your body recognizes naturally, no rollercoaster, no daily pills.

The Warnings: Pellet considerations include down time from strenuous exercise, sauna, hot tub, or swimming for 3 days after insertion. This is to avoid infection in the tiny incision and extrusion of pellets.

All hormone delivery methods take time to find the right dose and what is best for your body.

Our providers do not follow protocols, they use years of experience, your lab values, and most importantly your symptoms to assess dosing of your hormones. This is why it's important to find an experienced hormone provider! Certifications bring the knowledge but practitioner experience optimizes the patient outcomes.

Knowledge is power. The goal? Relief, balance, and long-term health, not guesswork.

Ever heard of the idea of a “toxic load bucket”?

Everyone has one, and the more toxins that fill it, the closer you get to overflow. That overflow impacts your hormones and overall health.

Everyday products used over and over often add to that load, but a few simple swaps can make a big difference:

• Use glass, stainless steel, or ceramic instead of plastic containers
• Choose organic and fresh or frozen foods when possible
• Swap non-stick pans for cast iron or stainless steel
• Pick fragrance-free, mineral-based, or simple-ingredient skincare
• Clean with vinegar, baking soda, and castile soap instead of synthetic sprays

These little steps help protect your hormones, and your overall health, one swap at a time.

Why Nutrition Before Conception Matters More Than You Think

Long before supplements or IVF, couples prepared for conception through real, nutrient-rich food, and modern science now confirms why that matters.

What you eat before conception shapes fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and even your baby’s long-term health. From balancing blood sugar to rebuilding nutrient stores, your nutrition in the 3 months before conception can make all the difference, for both partners.

👉Learn how to nourish your body for conception this season, even through the holidays, in our upcoming class:

When one hormone falls out of balance… the rest follow.

Your hormones work like a domino line, each one influences energy, sleep, mood, metabolism, and even motivation.

So when estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone start to dip (perimenopause, menopause, or andropause), everything can feel off.

The good news? You’re not “just getting older.” You’re out of balance… and that can be fixed.

We don’t guess, we test, connect the dots, and help you feel like yourself again.
