“Public school trustees’ opposition to public funds going to private schools was front and center Friday on the final day of the Idaho School Boards Association’s annual meeting.

Not only did trustees overwhelmingly support a resolution opposing any increase in public funds going toward private schools ahead of the 2026 legislative session, but they also selected their next leader based on this issue.”

The resolutions they approved will dictate lobbying priorities during the 2026 legislative session.

The latest budget documents released by the state show Idaho is projected to end the current fiscal year in June with an unconstitutional state budget deficit of $56.6 million dollars.
