We wanted to welcome another SLP to the Trinity family!

⭐️Hello! I am Martha Davis, and I have been a pediatric speech-language pathologist since 2008. I have extensive experience working with children of all ages and have special training in the areas of infant feeding, Orton-Gillingham reading intervention, trauma-informed care, and Talk Tools Oral Placement. It is a passion of mine to support and guide clients and their families through challenges and hard places with compassion and expertise.

My husband and I have 4 sons (3 teenagers and 1 toddler). We are former foster parents who recently adopted our 4th son. Fun fact - I worked at Trinity Speech for the first 10 years of my career! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, and napping. I am excited to be back at Trinity Speech!

🙋🏽‍♀️ Curious how to support your young child’s language development this summer?

⭐️ Play is the way children learn!
For young children, play with others is one of the most effective ways to learn new concepts and build vocabulary.

🧸 Follow their lead and join the fun!
While playing, you might feel tempted to direct or teach—but letting your child lead keeps them engaged and ready to learn.Try these tips:
→ Copy what your child is doing
→ Expand on their words without expecting a response
→ Add fun sound effects like bang, smash, and boom
→ Sing songs and let them fill in the words

🧭 Let them explore, get messy, and try new things!
Children thrive when they’re having fun and fully engaged.You can:
→ Play outside with water, grass, or sticks
→ Take photos of flowers, animals, or plants and talk about them
→ Explore textures, smells, temperatures, colors, and shapes
→ Involve them in bath time, cooking, or washing dishes

🚂 Instead of asking questions, talk more!
Many kids feel overwhelmed by constant questions. Instead of quizzing, try expanding on what they say:
→ Child: “Ball” → You: “I want the ball!”
→ Child: “Swing” → You: “Mommy push me! Swing more!”
→ Child: “Eat” → You: “I’m hungry! Let’s eat a snack.”
Even if they don’t respond, they’re still learning from hearing their idea expanded!

At Trinity Speech, Language, and Learning Center, we’ve proudly served the families of Gardendale and North Jefferson County for nearly two decades. As a locally owned, faith-based clinic, we are committed to placing the needs of children and families first.
