Standing in the bottle aisle can feel… overwhelming 😵‍💫
Here’s what actually matters (and what doesn’t):

🍼 Flow > “breast-like” marketing
A appropriate sized ni**le is usually the most important factor, even for older babies

🍼 Watch the baby, not the age range
Coughing, gulping, leaking, or frustration are signs the flow or shape may not be a good fit.

🍼 There is no perfect bottle
No bottle truly mimics breastfeeding and that’s okay!Responsive, paced feeding matters far more.

🍼 You don’t need to buy 6 different brands
Start with one, see how your baby responds, and adjust if needed.

We’re back with round 2 of postpartum doula school for dads! My free series where we educate and discuss all the ins and outs of postpartum for partners! 👨

Today we’re discussing the maternal mental load: what it is, why it’s a LOT to carry, and how we can help.

As always, these posts are NOT ❌ to shame partners- it is to help them recognize what support is helpful during postpartum (because this is a new experience for them, too! They deserve grace and education while they learn).

Hey dad- I know you want to help & support your partner! I see it every day in homes with my postpartum families and it makes my heart SO happy!

I also know it can sometimes be hard to know how to help- especially if this is your first child. So, welcome to dad doula school! ❤️

Stuff does not equate support.

Around this time of year, marketing tactics will really try to convince you that some hot new product will be what helps you feel energized, relaxed, calm, or like a better mother.

Slippers, red lights, nail polish, a fuzzy bathrobe- it doesn’t fix systemic issues with supporting mothers.

You can’t “things” your way out of sleep deprivation or a painful latch or feelings of isolation and feeling hopeless in motherhood.

Stuff serves a purpose, and I’m totally cool with an item bringing you comfort.

But as a society, let’s not purchase these items for moms and then claim we supported them with them.

Support requires action, time, investment.
