The baby industry is a multi-billion dollar machine and it runs on one thing:

Your self doubt.

If you can be convinced your body isn’t enough, your instincts aren’t reliable, or your baby needs optimizing…

…there will always be something to sell you.

A better swaddle. A smarter bassinet. A stricter schedule. A new supplement. The latest and greatest. A course to fix something that isn’t even broken.

👀 but here’s the part that doesn’t make anyone money:

Your baby regulates through YOU.

Your voice is biology. Your chest is temperature control. Your presence is the medicine. Your brain is the 101 course on your own unique baby.

This doesn’t mean you can’t buy helpful tools.
It means the tools were never meant to replace YOU.

If you’ve ever felt like you needed to purchase your way into being a “good mom”…

You’re not failing… you’re being marketed to.

You need support. You need reassurance. You need someone to remind you that your body was designed for this. I’m here to be that reminder 🤎

Be a mom against the machine.

I believe this is one of the most left out of conversations about postpartum:

Yes, sleep might be tough.
Yes; breastfeeding might leave you struggling.
Yes, learning to swaddle can be difficult.

But learning your baby’s temperament in the process can throw a huge wrench into the mix.

You can prepare everything perfectly and still be met with a baby who wants none of it ❌

This is not a FAILURE- this is a learning experience.

Postpartum is a constant dance of adjustment & accommodation. It’s not about control, it’s about connecting.

Leaning in to postpartum support- one led by research & intuition- will be your best friend while navigating the fourth trimester 🤎

You don’t need to have it all figured out, you just need support while you’re navigating

Standing in the bottle aisle can feel… overwhelming 😵‍💫
Here’s what actually matters (and what doesn’t):

🍼 Flow > “breast-like” marketing
A appropriate sized ni**le is usually the most important factor, even for older babies

🍼 Watch the baby, not the age range
Coughing, gulping, leaking, or frustration are signs the flow or shape may not be a good fit.

🍼 There is no perfect bottle
No bottle truly mimics breastfeeding and that’s okay!Responsive, paced feeding matters far more.

🍼 You don’t need to buy 6 different brands
Start with one, see how your baby responds, and adjust if needed.

We’re back with round 2 of postpartum doula school for dads! My free series where we educate and discuss all the ins and outs of postpartum for partners! 👨

Today we’re discussing the maternal mental load: what it is, why it’s a LOT to carry, and how we can help.

As always, these posts are NOT ❌ to shame partners- it is to help them recognize what support is helpful during postpartum (because this is a new experience for them, too! They deserve grace and education while they learn).

Please be aware that it’s subject to shut down for a few weeks at a time when I need to catch up on orders or take care of my in person clients. Orders have a 4-6 week turn around time from the time I receive your milk
