Yesterday, HWC honored our Volunteers during an Appreciation Ceremony. We have over 50 current Volunteers including community members, family members and residents. The group was so large that we could not fit everyone in one group photo! Our Volunteers help with so much, including spiritual services, one-on-one visits, games, trips, parties, newsletter folding and much, much more. After the presentation of certificates and gifts, we gathered for delicious treats prepared by HWC's Culinary department and music by Forrest. "Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless." — Sherry Anderson

HWC Residents have been busy since last week and over the weekend with several different programs. Volunteers from GAAMHA stopped by to work on a crafting project. They helped us create an Earth Day garland which is now strung along the railings of our Lounge. Volunteer Deb ran a game of OuiSi ("We See"), which is great for visual connection skills. And, our friends from Anne O’Connell’s Irish American Step Dancers gave an impressive performance!

Based on a recent in-house study, HWC Residents who attend our chair exercise class 3 + times per week are 21% less likely to suffer a fall than those who don’t! It’s fun, Residents can work at their own pace, and find themselves building strength and balance as they become more and more familiar with the routine. Plus, the Residents who attend regularly are automatically entered to win our monthly raffle prize. Class is offered Monday – Saturday at 10:30 in the Media Room.
