Mercury begins its first retrograde of 2022 on January 14th in Aquarius, rewinding through the zodiac until it gets to Capricorn. And then, by February 4th, Mercury’s retrograde will be done and dusted.

As Mercury reverses through independent Aquarius, it might seem like personal liberties, and freedoms are taking a huge step backwards. Frustrations are inevitable, but that’s a given when it comes to Mercury’s retrograde anyway. Communication is likely to go haywire, particularly with digital messaging, such as texting or emails.

Aquarius is super techie, so expect to see the social media giants in a state of flux when Mercury retrogrades through the Water-Bearer. And the same can be said for large corporations and big bosses once Mercury reverses into Capricorn. Scammers, fraud and identity theft may get out of control, so be on guard!

During Mercury’s retrograde, it’s always a good idea to back up your devices, but this is especially true this time around. Aim to do this in the next 36 hours to avoid retrograde hiccups.

Ohh, and don't decide to back up your computer and phone or refresh passwords just when you hear Mercury’s retrograde has begun. It's probably too late by then, and you could wind up experiencing the exact problems you're trying to avoid in the first place!

And finally, remember that Mercury's retrograde can be a blessing if you use it wisely. Reflect, redo, reconsider and regenerate, and you’ll be less likely to want to tear your hair out over the coming few weeks!
