Back in September, Sierra Chef partnered with us for our Round Up for Healthcare campaign and helped raise over $500 to support local health and wellness right here at home.

The Carson Valley Health Foundation was honored to accept Douglas County’s Movember proclamation today. Raising awareness for men’s health is vital, and this recognition supports our ongoing efforts through the Together for Tomorrow campaign, which includes raising funds for a new Cancer Care Center. We are grateful to the Board of County Commissioners for helping shine a light on this important issue.

Today, the Board of County Commissioners issued Proclamation 2025P-098, declaring November 2025 as Movember – Men’s Health Awareness Month in Douglas County.

This proclamation recognizes the importance of raising awareness about men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancers, as well as men’s mental health. We thank the Carson Valley Health Foundation for its efforts in supporting men’s health initiatives!

What an incredible night! 🎀

A heartfelt thank you to the Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge for hosting this year’s Paint Nevada Pink Dinner on Saturday evening in support of the Carson Valley Health Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Fund. We are so grateful for your partnership and generosity in helping us keep funds local to support community members facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

We had a fantastic turnout, delicious food, and even better company! Dinner was proudly served by amazing CVH staff volunteers, and it was inspiring to see so many members of the CVH team attending and supporting the cause.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to CVH staff member and Elks Lodge member, Kate Barskey-Marsalis. Kate spearheaded this event from the very beginning, championing the Pink Ribbon Fund as the evening’s beneficiary. Her passion and dedication to helping others is truly unmatched—she spent months planning every detail, and her hard work showed in an unforgettable night filled with community, compassion, and purpose.

Kate, thank you for your leadership and heart. You have made a real impact.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support the mission—and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

The Carson Valley Health Foundation is honored to announce a remarkable and deeply meaningful gift of $1 million from Cristi Cristich-Milazzo and John Milazzo, made through the CM Charis Fund II held at the Tahoe Community Foundation.

This extraordinary contribution reflects Cristi and John’s enduring dedication to the health and well-being of our community. Their generosity, combined with the support of many others, has propelled the Together for Tomorrow campaign beyond its original fundraising goal—an inspiring milestone that now empowers the Foundation to set a new target: raising an additional $1 million to continue advancing vital initiatives.

Launched in 2025, the Together for Tomorrow campaign is a community-wide effort to strengthen and expand critical health care services in Douglas County and the surrounding region. Campaign priorities include an enhanced Cancer Care Services, Inpatient Behavioral Health, Women’s Health and Diagnostics and Specialty Care Expansion.

"Cristi and John’s generosity is more than a gift; it is an investment in the future of health care for every patient and family in our community," said Courtney Moore, Executive Director of the Carson Valley Health Foundation. "They have placed their trust in us and in this hospital, and we are humbled and inspired by their commitment."

This announcement comes at a meaningful time, as October often serves as a month of heightened awareness and reflection around cancer care. It is a reminder of the importance of expanding access to comprehensive, compassionate services. Through the Together for Tomorrow campaign, Carson Valley Health is working to ensure patients can receive advanced cancer care and treatment close to home, surrounded by the support of their families and community.
