We had a great time joining North Central Iowa Ag in the Classroom yesterday at West Hancock Elementary where 1st grade students had a "Pumpkin Math" Lesson. Students compared pumpkin shapes, measurements, weight, and size. Afterwards, we celebrated all of our hard work with some Pumpkin Pie in a Bag!!

GHV 1st Graders had a fun fall morning full of Agriculture today!

Their first stop was to M**f Ag Services, where Andy and Hayley M**f allowed students to explore farm equipment and interact with livestock.

Next up, was Flatrack Farms Pumpkin Patch, where Josh and Lisa Crawford talked about different pumpkin varieties, let each class travel through the corn maze, and pick a class pumpkin!

This field trip is such a memorable day and learning experience for both the students and adults who attend! Thank you again to the M**f and Crawford families for your time and hospitality in sharing your agriculture story with the next generation!

WHAT A DAY!! Yesterday we hosted over 100 third grade students from West Hancock and GHV for our annual Ag Fair at the Hancock County District Fairgrounds.

This year we introduced a two-part learning experience for the students that featured a First Responder/Farm Safety Segment AND an Agriculture Segment.

A huge thank you to Forest City, GHV and WH FFA Chapters as this event would not have happened without them! The FFA students brought livestock, equipment, presented to students, and lead the third graders from station to station.

HCFB would also like to send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the following: Randy Hiscocks, Evan Beshey and the Hancock County Fair Board, Garner Fire Department, Chief Martinez with Britt PD, West Hancock Ambulance Service, MercyOne North Iowa Air Med, K.C. Nielsen of Kanawha, Jason Lackore with Hancock County Conservation, Riley Pringnitz with NEW Coop, Hancock County Extension Office and their County Council members, and Vanessa Trampel with Iowa Corn. We appreciate your time, resources, and energy devoted to educating the youth of Hancock County. The day was a celebration of the various ways different entities work together to help and support our local farmers!
