Story time…
The holidays arrive whether we’re ready or not. The stores fill up, the music starts playing, and suddenly you realize how different this season feels. It’s hard walking through stores knowing you’re no longer Christmas shopping with the ones you always shopped with. It’s opening boxes of decorations and remembering how your home used to be decorated to a T, and now you just don’t have it in you this year. The lights feel different. The traditions feel heavier. And some days, it catches you completely off guard.
But here’s the hopeful part. This season doesn’t have to look like it used to. It’s okay to do things differently. It’s okay to decorate less, shop differently, or even skip certain traditions altogether. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means giving yourself permission to move forward in new ways, at your own pace. One day, the holiday lights won’t feel so heavy. One day, the music will bring warmth again. Until then, take this season one moment at a time. You are not behind. You are healing. And you are not alone.
