We are so proud to call Alfreida Pointer Robins our dear friend and sister. Her heart for people, her strength, and her leadership are truly a blessing to our community. 💜

Meet Alfreida Pointer Robins — our 2026 Lake County Community Engagement Chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. 💜

If you’ve ever had the privilege of meeting Alfreida, you know her heart is as strong as her leadership. Her commitment to this cause comes from a deeply personal place. She lost her grandmother to Alzheimer’s, and today she continues to walk alongside her mother, who is courageously living with the disease.

That lived experience is why her voice, her passion, and her presence matter so much.

Professionally, Alfreida has dedicated her life to caring for others. She has opened and led memory care units as a Director of Nursing and founded Travail With Us, which now oversees a team of more than 100 staff members serving families across Northwest Indiana. Through transportation, adult day services, workforce training, and community wellness programs, her work lifts up our community every single day.

She also brings a spirit of advocacy and action. Whether she’s on the City of Gary’s Age-Friendly Advisory Council, organizing blood drives or sickle cell awareness walks, or training the next generation of caregivers — Alfreida shows up.

But beyond all of that, she is a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, and a very proud grandmother. Her compassion reaches far beyond her career and into every life she touches.

We are honored to have her leading Lake County community engagement this year. Her belief that shared pain can create shared purpose inspires us all. Together, with leaders like Alfreida, we move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
