Supine leg lowers look simple… but they reveal a lot about your core control.

In the first clip, notice how the pelvis and spine move as the legs lower. When the spine rotates or the low back arches, the body is borrowing motion from places that should be stable. That means the deep core isn’t doing its job.

In the second clip, the movement is slow, controlled, and intentional. The spine and pelvis stay quiet while the legs move. This allows the deep core system to engage and stabilize the body the way it’s designed to.

Quality > quantity every time.

If you want to get the most benefit from this exercise:
• Move slowly
• Keep the pelvis and rib cage stacked
• Only lower as far as you can without losing spinal stability

Remember: core strength isn’t about how far your legs go — it’s about how well you control the movement.

The bird dog is one of my FAVORITE core exercises, but here’s the thing: form matters SO much.

WRONG: Letting your back arch and hips rotate. This puts pressure on your lower back and defeats the whole purpose of the exercise.

RIGHT: Engage your core, keep your back flat, hips level, and extend one arm with the opposite leg. This is where the magic happens.

Why does this matter? Poor form can actually reinforce bad movement patterns and leave you with pain instead of strength. We’re not just going through the motions here—we’re building a foundation for lasting wellness.

The good news? Once you nail the form, this exercise is AWESOME for stability, core strength, and preventing injury. Your body will thank you.
