Covenant Village is featured in the Spring 2026 issue of Environments for Aging magazine's EFA Design Showcase for our recent renovation and expansion projects in the current master plan.

The annual Design Showcase issue is packed with architectural and interior design insights, solutions, and trends in the senior living industry, drawn from the work of national and international companies.

The following is from the feature description about Covenant Village:

"Originally designed by CJMW Architecture and opened in 1982, Covenant Village was envisioned as a comprehensive senior living community offering a full continuum of care. Four decades later, new leadership recognized that a changing senior living market required a thoughtful reinvestment in the campus. Covenant Village returned to CJMW to reimagine how the community could modernize, grow, and remain competitive while honoring its legacy.

"...Working closely with the development team and staff, CJMW developed a phased approach balancing immediate improvements with long-term transformation. Early phases focus on targeted renovations that deliver visible enhancements, while later phases introduce strategic new construction at the heart of the campus.

"...In response to lessons learned during the COVID pandemic, a donor-funded outdoor Pavilion provides a flexible open-air gathering space that supports social connection."

Our ARISE Health Center Director of Nursing, Stephanie Black Wellman, is one of 27 professionals in the 2026 🌟 Spring Leadership Gaston Class! 🌟

Over the next several weeks, these emerging and established leaders will dive deep into the people, places, and issues that shape Gaston County—gaining firsthand insight into our community while building connections that will last far beyond the program.

From exploring key industries and institutions to engaging with local leaders and organizations, this class is ready to soak up as much knowledge and experience as they can along the way.

Yesterday, our 2026 Lifelong Learning & Enrichment program continued with a deep dive into the context and intent of the Declaration of Independence and how it informed later documents, which have shaped the establishment and operation of our nation. Thank you to Belmont Abbey's Professor Joseph Wysocki for his insightful presentation. Covenant Village is delighted to help build a community of lifelong learning and enrichment in collaboration with Belmont Abbey College and Debbie Windley of Windmark Consulting.

It's the little touches that make Covenant Village "home." Residents enjoy shared living rooms throughout the apartment neighborhoods, spaces where they gather for Bridge, Mahjong, puzzles, Book clubs, and parties. We love how the residents also share their personal touches in these spaces to celebrate the seasons.

At 100 years old, Dr. Bill Woody was determined to learn the piano during COVID. Four years later, at 104, it's a treat to catch him sharing his talent in the ARISE Health Center residences.

On Sunday mornings, 15-20 residents at the ARISE Health Center at Covenant Village attend Bible Study, led most often by resident Dr. Bob Blake, Mary Layton, or Beth Silvers. Resident Audrey Rhyne plays the piano and leads hymns. This past Sunday, when 9 inches of snow made travel difficult, Mrs. Rhyne led it all. We love how our residents care for each other, take the lead, and serve with purpose.
