We still have space for younger elementary school-aged kids to join our STAR K-3 Workshop this Saturday (we especially need more 3rd graders to even out the group!). This half-day workshop is a great way to practice social skills and make new friends!

It's starts with a conversation. This Day, APA encourages families, educators, and communities to check in with the teens in their lives and help connect them to care when they need it.

Wise words from Maya Angelou for this Monday morning.

There is an extremely dangerous misconception that an individual needs to be “sick enough” to seek treatment for an eating disorder. Unfortunately this fallacy prevents countless individuals from seeking the support they both need and deserve. If you think that you or someone you know may have an eating disorder, please do not delay treatment. Remember, eating disorders do not have a specific “look.”

Field trip to today to dig into the archives and document TriCity Family Services’ impact in the community over the last six decades.

In the late 60s, YMCA of Elgin’s answer to at-risk teens was individual Youth Projects where adolescents could gather, talk, and find resources; later, the programs of St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia consolidated under TriCity Youth Project; eventually, it was determined that professional counseling and psychiatric care for the entire family unit and community education would be most effective in preventing and treating mental health issues, so TriCity Family Services was formed.

Since then, TCFS has remained a dependable mainstay for affordable, accessible mental health services in the Fox River Valley—and thanks to technology, we can help families from all over Illinois. Through therapy, workshops, support groups, Family-Based Treatment for Eating Disorders, and our Wilderness Challenge Program, we serve thousands of individuals each year.

In celebration of TCFS’ 60th Anniversary in 2027, we look toward the future with hope and optimism as we honor and respect our history.
