We were deeply honored as our veterans stepped forward to raise the American flag in this moving and memorable ceremony.

With quiet pride, Bob Baer of the Air Force joined our maintenance team member, Kurtis Knudson of the Navy, to lift the flag skyward. The stirring words of “The Star-Spangled Banner” were read by Tom Gordy of the Marine Corps, his voice carrying the weight of history and service. Standing with them were fellow member Art Haynes of the Navy, and our Memory Care Director, Randi Meacham, who also served proudly in the Navy.

Tom reminded us that The Star-Spangled Banner began not as a song, but as a poem written by Francis Scott Key in 1814—born of the awe he felt when he saw the American flag still flying over Fort McHenry after more than 25 hours of relentless bombardment during the War of 1812. That symbol of endurance and hope would, in time, become the anthem our nation sings today.

At The Hacienda, raising our flag is more than a tradition—it is a tribute. We are profoundly grateful for the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of our veterans. Their service continues to inspire us every single day.

We kicked off the season with a delicious Thanksgiving demo from our amazing dining team! 🍂🦃

Our Dining Director, Mark, walked us through his favorite tips for preparing the perfect turkey, rich gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, and classic stuffing. Then our talented Pastry Chef, Jacob, wowed us with a step-by-step lesson on how to create his incredible apple pie tart.

We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and of course… ate a lot! Grateful for such a skilled and passionate dining team here at The Hacienda. ❤️👏

The Hacienda at Georgetown was absolutely wowed by the incredible service, food, and drinks at juniper ! We wanted to support our Hacienda Alumni Dining Team - Andrew, Hannah, and Chef Gregory as they launched their new restaurant, and wow—we were blown away from start to finish.

From the burnt cinnamon stick “cigarette” Old Fashioned to the espresso pork belly and the perfectly thinly sliced focaccia bread, every bite and sip was outstanding. We couldn’t be prouder of our Hacienda at Georgetown alumni!

Our memory care members had a magical day with ROCK Ride On Center for Kids! 🐴 From making treats for the horses, to painting and brushing them, it was wonderful to see our members come to life and fully enjoy the experience.

We love our partners at ROCK and are so grateful to their amazing staff and volunteers for creating these memorable moments. Thank you for helping our residents connect, explore, and have fun! ✨

Let’s give a big shout out to Kurtis Knudson from our Maintenance Department, our November Associate of the Month!

Kurtis is known for his upbeat attitude, friendliness, and willingness to help with anything and everything. Whether he’s fixing something, assisting a teammate, or even giving weekend tours, Kurtis always goes the extra mile to make people feel welcome.

Kurtis was nominated by member, Maluan Smith, who shared that Kurtis knows her name, greets her in the halls, and always makes sure she’s happy with his work.

Kurtis says the best part of his job is working with our members and knowing that he is making a positive impact in their everyday lives. Outside of work, Kurtis enjoys fishing, working on cars, and spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite traditions is celebrating Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg with his family, a yearly event that connects him to his heritage and brings everyone together.

Thank you, Kurtis, for your positivity, hard work, and the joy you bring to our community every day!

This Halloween, we were bewitched by the Sun City “Boots & Broomsticks” dance troupe! We were especially lucky that their head witch, Alice , has a family member who recently moved to The Hacienda. Naturally, the whole coven agreed to shake and shimmy through our halls with their custom broomsticks in tow! The laughter and cackles carried right into our costume contest that followed. We’re already counting down to next year—who’s ready to make their own broom and join the fun?

Happy Halloween from The Hacienda! This month we had a special 4 course meal paired with wine and a Murder Mystery play: First Degree Wolfery. This was written & directed by our very own, Alyssa Daniel, from our Community Life Team!

Alyssa, as the Angel of Death, guided us on a murderous tale detailing 3 friends who went to a party and only 2 came back. With the help and acting of 2 detectives, a mad scientist and a wearwolf… or two… we figured out who the murderer was…🐺🐺

Nothing beats a day spent soaking up sunshine, fresh air, and sweet treats with even sweeter company. 💛

✨ We had a bewitching good time channeling our inner witchy energy at our spooky ladies’ lunch! 🧙‍♀️🎃

A huge thank-you to Dawn from Next Chapter Books & Bookmobile and Liz from The Sweet Cupfé for sponsoring this magical event.

From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with witch hats, bats adorning the walls, and a spellbinding tablescape — complete with pumpkin-shaped pastries, ghost sandwiches, honey butter biscuits, and bone berry punch! 🕸️🦇

But our favorite part? All the laughter (or should we say cackles?) shared along the way! 💫

🎃🍎 A Sunday to Remember! 🍎🎃

A huge thank you to our amazing on-site medical center, Curana Health for sponsoring such a fun visit from the Georgetown High School GHS Georgette & Sapphire Dance Teams this past Sunday!

We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather together with apple cider in hand, while the Georgettes brought pumpkins for us to paint!

They even took the time to teach us a slower version of their energetic fight song dance. Some of us really got the moves down, but all of us gained a new appreciation for just how much skill and practice goes into their performances — it’s harder than it looks!

We’re so grateful for the joy, energy, and connection these young dancers brought to our community. Thank you again to Curana Health and the Georgettes for making this Sunday so special! 💛💙

Nothing beats birding with the crisp fall morning air at our beloved Blue Hole Park. We went out at 7AM to capture the fall migration and were on the lookout for migratory birds. 🍂 We even got some nature photos- Can you spot the reflection of the morning sun & autumn foliage dancing on the lake? Afterward, we stopped by Randall’s to bring home a touch of this fall beauty in the form of fresh blooms for our loved ones.

We are wishing everyone a Fall-filled Friday and especially Georgetown Parks and Recreation for maintaining such a gorgeous park! 🍁 What fall activities have you been enjoying lately?
