Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special stop at La Red Health Center earlier this month! ✨

Thanks to the generosity of Toys for Tots, WBOC’s Bless Our Children, and local businesses including Susan’s Boutique, Donna Maria Pupuseria, Tienda La Bonita, Los Karnales, Lefty’s Alley’s & Eats, and BiBi’s Restaurant, we were able to bring holiday cheer to our pediatric patients. ❤️💚

With their support, more than 100 children and their families celebrated the season with gifts, games, music, and delicious treats like pizza, tamales, and cookies. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff who volunteered on their day off and to board member Mike McGroerty and Staff member Susan Ciociola for playing Santa and Mrs. Claus. They were perfect! 🎁

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day magical and showing our young patients that our community truly cares!

Thank you to Delaware First Health for this important $50,000 investment in our patients and our community. The Centene Foundation awarded La Red Health Center a $50,000 grant to replace a vehicle to ensure reliable patient transportation to medical appointments and for wrap-around service needs.

Transportation is a vital service at La Red Health Center, helping patients who would otherwise miss critical medical appointments at La Red, hospitals, and specialty providers throughout Delaware.

In 2024, the La Red team logged 166,962 miles, providing transportation for 2,221 patients. In just the first four months of 2025, we have already traveled 79,733 miles while transporting 836 patients. In addition to supporting patients getting to their appointments, La Red vehicles are also used to respond to an increasing number of social drivers of health (SDOH) needs across the communities we serve, such as delivering healthy foods through La Red's produce prescription program.

This funding will help us continue our mission to provide quality, affordable, and accessible care to all who need it in Sussex County and surrounding areas.

✨This holiday season, we are deeply grateful to the Harry K Foundation and the Food Bank of Delaware for helping make our patients’ holidays a little brighter.✨

Thanks to the Harry K Foundation’s generous support, La Red Health Center was able to participate in the Christmas Holiday Meal Box & Roaster Program, allowing our community health outreach team to distribute 100 boxes of food to patients and families in need.

Their partnership helps ensure that our neighbors have access to nutritious meals during the holidays, and reminds our community that no one has to face hunger alone.
