La Red Health Center is thrilled to announce Dr. Maribel Woodward as our new Director of Pediatrics!

Dr. Woodward will oversee three other pediatric providers and a team of nurses assigned to the department at our offices in Milford, Georgetown and Seaford.

At La Red, Woodward plans to take an interdepartmental approach, so families seeking help for their children at La Red receive the care they need, whether through the pediatric department or another department such as dental or behavioral health. She plans to encourage and train other providers at La Red on how best to care for children and teens. 😁

🎗January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month🎗

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer for women worldwide.🌎
Because it develops over time, it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer.

One way cervical cancer cells begin development is because of HPV.

Human papillomavirus, also called HPV, is spread by sexual activity.
Most of the time, the body can find and clear out HPV. But if the virus stays in the body for a long time, it can cause cancer. Getting vaccinated against HPV helps prevent cancer in men and women 👩🏻‍⚕️

La Red Health Center extends our sincere thanks to Sen. Eric Buckson (R–Dover) for taking the time to travel to Georgetown to tour our health center and meet with our team. ✨

During his visit, Sen. Buckson spoke with our providers, including Dr. Rolando Gonzalez, to learn more about the work we do to support Delawareans, particularly those struggling with substance use disorder and individuals re-entering the community after involvement with the justice system.

These community-based programs are making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. We helped more than 500 individuals through our re-entry program last year with comprehensive health care services and support.
