March is National Criminal Justice Month

During National Criminal Justice Month, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) highlights the experiences of people with mental illness who become involved in the criminal justice system.

These overlooked stories help increase communities understanding of the intersection of mental illness and the criminal justice system – sparking efforts for lasting change.

At La Red Health Center, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance — and access to quality health care is a vital part of rebuilding a healthy, stable life.

Our Rural Re-entry Program is designed to support individuals transitioning back into their communities after incarceration, ensuring they receive the medical care, behavioral health support, and resources needed for long-term success.

La Red Health Center recently kicked of its partnership with the Delaware State Housing Authority and three regional hospitals: Beebe Health Care, Tidal Health, the Delaware Division of Public Health and the Rehoboth Community Resource Center to bring reproductive health clinics to underserved communities.

The program recently kicked off with an inaugural visit to Hickory Tree in Selbyville.

The program, funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), provides culturally sensitive outreach, education and connection to care, including doula services.

The collaborative project has been dubbed the “Moms” project and is focused on improving outcomes for mothers and their babies by enhancing access to care and promoting health equity.

Chronic pain can take a toll on your daily life, but there are safe, effective options available. 💙

Chiropractic care offers a non-opioid alternative for managing chronic pain. It’s a safer, often less expensive option that has been proven to help improve chronic pain and related conditions such as migraine headaches.

If you’re living with chronic pain, talk to your provider about treatment options that focus on long-term relief and overall wellness. Your La Red provider can offer a referral for chiropractic care.

Nine years. Countless lives impacted.

We are so grateful for George Walker and his extraordinary service on La Red's Board of Directors. As our former Board President, George guided us through landmark moments such as the launch of our mobile health unit, a full rebranding, and a leadership transition. He handled all with grace and unwavering dedication.

George, you are a model of what true leadership looks like. Thank you for giving your time and energy to La Red. It has made all the difference.

When Pablo McCallister was a young student at Lake Forest School District in Felton his school had a clothing pantry and it was a lifeline.

He would come home with a summer wardrobe.

McCallister, who is now a case manager at La Red, never forgot what that clothing pantry meant to him. His personal experience and the work that he does with the homeless community inspired him to create a similar clothing pantry here at La Red Health Center.

Pablo created Pablo’s closet about a year ago. Inside the closest, is food, clothing, toys and other items families or unhoused individuals might need. He has even given away cribs and breast pumps, and has taken on special requests.

Pablo’s closet is located at La Red’s offices in Georgetown, but eventually he would like to expand it to La Red’s offices in Milford and Seaford.

He receives referrals from La Red’s providers mainly, but Pablo is hoping to expand that. Members of the community are welcome to call and make an appointment if they have a need, or contact La Red on our website at www.LaRedHealthCenter.org.

Pablo’s closet has truly taken off in the last year and is now at the point where Pablo and his team would appreciate volunteers who can help organize items and help distribute items to those who are in need.
If you are interested in volunteering with Pablo’s Closet, please fill out La Red’s volunteer form at https://www.laredhealthcenter.org/donate-and-get-involved -reports or call Sharon Smith or Pablo McAllister at 302-855-1233.

Thank you to the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Weller Does Delmarva for having us on your program last month. It was a lot of fun. It was also great seeing our partners at T.S. Smith Orchard Point Market who we partner with on La Red's Produce Prescription Program.

✨Thank You!✨

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Do More 24 Delaware statewide giving campaign. 😁

This past year, we have experienced funding cuts, uncertainty, and a sharp rise in uninsured patients looking toward us for help. It’s important that we are able to be there for them and their families and we can only do that with your help.

The only way that La Red can offer the comprehensive health care services to 15,000 uninsured and underinsured patients in Southern Delaware is because of generous donors like you.

Your donation to La Red helps us continue to offer primary care, dental, behavioral health care, pediatric care, women’s health care, and treatment for substance use disorder for everyone who needs it. 💙
