Loghan, LVT - Veterinary Technician. MEET OUR STAFF

Loghan has been around animals her entire life, starting with cats and horses. Growing up, she often brought home orphaned dogs and cats who soon became beloved family pets. With over 10 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Loghan earned her associate’s degree in veterinary technology and completed an internship caring for a variety of primate species.

After passing her VTNE and state board exam, she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Throughout her career, she has explored areas including surgery, dentistry, specialty, and emergency care, but ultimately found her true passion in general practice.

Breed of the Week Domestic Short Hair

Another reason that Domestic Shorthair cats are great family pets is that they are relatively low maintenance. They typically groom themselves well and have short to medium-length hair. That means you don’t need to give their coat too much attention, although regular brushing is still important to keep their fur in top shape and cut down on those nasty hairballs.

When you bring home a Domestic Shorthair cat, be sure to visit your veterinarian soon after you’re settled. If your new feline friend is a kitten, you should go to the veterinarian within the first week.

Talk to your veterinarian about the best way to care for your cat, including proper nutrition, exercise, and recommended wellness care treatments, like vaccines. You can check out our infographic for more on your kitty’s first veterinary visit.

BREED OF THE WEEK
Basset Hound our very own Cosmo
Bassets are very sweet and a great family pet

Because of the Basset's ears are long and droopy, it's important to check them frequently to ensure that air circulation hasn't led to an infection. Shaking the head or scratching at the ears may indicate the need for a vet visit. Responsible breeders check for health conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, bleeding disorders, and luxating patella, a dislocated kneecap once called a 'trick knee' in humans. Brushing your dog's teeth with specially formulated canine toothpaste at least twice a week is also a vital part of Basset health care

BREED OF THE WEEK ROTTWEILER

Rottweilers are intelligent, loyal, and strong working dogs that are popular pets, known for being protective of their families. They require early socialization and consistent training due to their size and protective instincts. Health concerns include hip dysplasia and certain cancers, and they have an average lifespan of 9–10 years.
Temperament and training
Rottweilers are intelligent, calm, and confident dogs that are very loyal to their families.
They are protective by nature and need early, consistent training and socialization to ensure they are well-behaved around others.
While they can be stubborn, they are also eager to please their owners with consistent training.
