How the Devoted Heart Remains Open
There comes a moment, even for the ones with generous hearts,
when the world grows too full
and the body begins whispering its soft truths.
We can love our communities deeply—
show up, offer hands, offer vision—
and still remember that we are made of breath and bone,
not endless light.
The work we do in the world
is carried by the vessel we live inside.
When we listen to its signals—
the heaviness behind the eyes,
the quiet ache in the shoulders,
the slowing of inner fire—
we aren’t abandoning anyone.
We are honoring the source
from which our service flows.
Rest is not retreat.
It is a returning.
A gathering-in.
A reminder that a pause
can be an offering too.
Let the body’s needs stand beside the commitments.
Let them have a voice.
Let them be part of the choices you make.
And when the day feels too crowded,
let yourself step back
not because you are tired of giving,
but because you deserve to be held—
first by your own breath,
your own stillness,
your own gentle care.
This is how a bright spirit stays bright.
This is how a devoted heart remains open.
