August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month, and this month, we recognize all patients diagnosed with gastroparesis and their caretakers.
Gastroparesis, also known as delayed gastric emptying, is when the stomach does not work the right way, and it has trouble clearing out its contents.
For individuals with gastroparesis, symptoms and severity vary, but common symptoms include:
🟢 Nausea.
🟢 Feeling full, even when eating only a small amount of food.
🟢 Throwing up.
While gastroparesis is a chronic condition, there are treatment options to help manage symptoms:
🟢 Nutrition therapy
🟢 Medication
🟢 Surgery (in severe cases)
