Get to know me!
1.What inspired you to become a massage therapist? Aside from initially searching for a new career path that would not require a lot of modifications due to my vision loss, I love to serve and educate, and found the one-on-one dynamic very appealing.
2. What is your favorite type of bodywork or technique to perform and why? I most enjoy targeted rehabilitation as it is focused on a particular area, and I have the opportunity to discover the root cause(s) and restore movement and function. It is both fun and gratifying!
3. What’s the most rewarding part of your job? Aside from the incredible relationships built with my clients, the “After” is why I love what I do. The smiles, amazement, euphoric laughter that comes when a person realizes they forgot what the absence of pain felt like.
4. What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about massage therapy? Your body doesn’t keep secrets. It tells the stories of every adventure, fall, trauma, and even how much water you’ve had.
5. What’s your favorite way to relax or recharge when you’re not working? I love naps, long baths, cuddles with my Golden Retriever, Hudson, Pilates, soaking up some sunshine in my hammock, and watching shows with my husband, Cameron.
6. Coffee, tea, or something else to start your day? Coffee coffee coffee! I only drink herbal tea if I’m under the weather- not my jam!
7. What’s one small thing people can do daily to take better care of their body? Stay moving! If you stand or sit a lot, take frequent short breaks to move. “Bodies in motion stay in motion. Bodies at rest stay at rest.”
8. What’s a hobby or interest you have outside of massage therapy? I love to paint and decorate!
9. If you could give every client one piece of wellness advice, what would it be? Know and advocate for your own body. Never stop learning, and fight for your own health and longevity!
10. What’s a random fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I’m a singer! I played the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute in college. I didn’t want to initially, but my vocal coach made me because there was only one other 1st soprano who could hit those notes.
