Meet our March Yogi Spotlight, Dorothy! ✨🧘 Scroll down to read our full interview!

What brought you to yoga/why do you practice yoga?

“I practice yoga because it helps me stay present to what is going on right in front of me, both on and off the mat. And because it feels good!”

What is your favorite yoga pose, breath, or mindfulness practice? Why?

“I love extended side angle and triangle pose, which always makes me laugh because those two used to be my least favorite! More than anything, I love the way my asana practice gives me an opportunity to make friends with poses, experiences, and sensations that might initially feel intimidating or overwhelming.”

In what ways does your practice support you “off the mat”?

“My practice helps me to be stronger and more flexible spiritually as well as physically - having a safe place to practice noticing without passing judgment helps me to be less anxious, more hopeful, and more aware of the needs in my community.”

What is your favorite thing about practicing at Rise?

“The diverse array of teaching styles and class offerings! It’s encouraging to see both teachers and students show up as their full selves.”

What would you tell someone who is considering trying yoga for the first time?

“Let it be fun - fall over, laugh with yourself, and don’t take yourself too seriously, but commit to showing up with what you have. You have nothing to fix.”

Thank you for being part of our community at Rise, Dorothy! 🙏

We look forward to welcoming Dorothy onto our instructional team later this summer! 💗

Yoga in the Park season is back in just a little over a month! Our 9:30 am Morning Rise class will move to the Rec Park for a beginner-friendly community practice with Heather every Saturday from May-August during the Adams County Farmers Market.

Bring your own mat or feel the grass beneath your feet! We meet down in the grassy shaded area by the amphitheater, with ample parking away from the busy-ness of the farmer's market, along S. Howard Ave. This class is $15 drop in just like any of our regular studio classes, OR you can use any of our Rise class plans.

We can't wait to practice with you- with the spaciousness of fresh air and blue sky above, the soundscape of bird song or a gentle breeze and the steady connection of the earth beneath your feet.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world… we shall have to begin with the children.” –Mahatma Gandhi

Join us this summer for a week of mindful movement, collaborative creativity and imaginative play at Rise Yoga Gettysburg. No prior experience with yoga or mindfulness necessary. For those who have only experienced yoga for adults, you might be thinking, "Is yoga really for kids? My kids aren't calm. Is that ok?" Children's Yoga looks a lot different than adult yoga, but incorporates the same elements of mindfulness, movement and connection, but in a fun, age-appropriate and accessible way for young people. It is a lively experience including storytelling, creative expression and teamwork, and our instructional team is certified specifically in yoga and mindfulness for kids! However this camp offers way more than yoga poses: loads of nature-inspired artistic expression, strategies to work through big emotions, social-emotional development and team-building and imaginative adventures with daily walking field trips. Send your children exactly as they are, with their big open hearts and creative energy.

We are thrilled to be offering a full-day camp this year with 3 different weeks to choose from!!

Did you have a cozy studio experience at Rise, and you’re not quite ready to leave? 😊

Consider pausing to leave the gift of a review 🥰✨🙏

It takes only a few moments with our quick Tap to Review stand!🙌

I know, I know…

The business of yoga doesn’t always feel so yogic, and asking for a review falls into that category for me for sure. 🙃

But sharing your kind words helps us to expand and share this space with a broader audience…💕

…To spread our wings and grow this beautiful community 🦋

We understand that taking even a few moments out of your day might feel like a lot. So we have something to share with you too. 🙏 Caught in the act of leaving us a review after class ? We have a small gift of gratitude for you. Just ask your instructor! ✨

Or do it now 🤩

This Mindful March we invite you to join us in spreading awareness and supporting researching and programming for the LoveYourBrain Foundation through their giving campaign during Brain Injury Awareness Month. Since 2014, LoveYourBrain has been pioneering the use of yoga and mindfulness for healing after brain injury, advancing the science behind its benefits, and re-imagining how people can actively participate in improving their quality of life. Learn more about the powerful healing that’s possible through yoga and mindfulness by watching this CNN Hero video, featuring our programs and Executive Director! https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/10/us/yoga-meditation-retreat-traumatic-brain-injury-cnnheroes/index.html

When you make a donation through our page, you're directly improving the lives of those affected by brain injury by helping LoveYourBrain sustain and expand their evidence-based programs and resources around the world- including the programming offered right here in your community, at one of their partner studios- Rise Yoga Gettysburg!
