Are you simply tired all day long, every single day? You may have sleep apnea and are actually stopping breathing, hundreds of times all night long. This causes your dissolved blood oxygen level to drop significantly. Your brain responds to the lower oxygen level by literally thinking it is dying, and causing a fight or flight response. While awake, you stand and fight, or turn and run away. Either way, you know the feeling of trembling, shaking, and heightened alertness that takes around thirty minutes to subside. Just think about that response while you are sleeping, and it literally happens all night long. Sure, you do not move, but your body is releasing chemicals such as cortisol, a flight or flight hormone which is a good thing while you are awake dealing with a dangerous situation, but is a terrible thing to be released into your body all night, while sleeping. Many negative health affects arise because of this. Health problems, such as atrial fibrillation, which I personally suffered with, heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke, rapid nighttime heart beat, weight gain, diabetes, memory difficulties, and a host of other symptoms. My sleep apnea was treated for many years with a miserable cpap machine and face mask, blowing constant air down my throat all night long to keep my airway unblocked, so that I would not stop breathing. It was somewhat successful. However, I was still tired all the time, taking long naps whenever possible. My atrial fibrillation was also still out of control. The sleep physician wanted to increase my cpap air pressure higher, yet again. Well, I refused. I had an oral device, of my design, made for myself. It is an extremely comfortable mouthpiece like device, that is not a mouthpiece that simply sits in your mouth and does absolutely nothing, but instead, a sturdy medical device that unnoticeably unblocks your airway, so that you can simply breath. Now, I no longer take daily naps and instead of monthly atrial fibrillation heart problems, I have not had a single episode in over two years. The oral device was much more effective and beneficial in keeping myself from becoming hypoxic, or keeping my dissolved blood oxygen from plummeting, while sleeping. Also, I no longer needed to hump a generator up the side of a mountain when I go camping anymore. In other words, freedom from my suffering with the cpap machine. If you have questions or concerns about possible sleep apnea for yourself or have the desire to end your life long marriage with your cpap machine, come discuss it with me. I absolutely love to tell people the truth about alternative sleep apnea treatment and share my experiences. You will absolutely see in the next few years, a revolution in the treatment of sleep apnea and all the horrible symptoms it truly causes you. Thanks for listening. Kevin Soliday DDS
