BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! I have decided to take a break from Posture Therapy to pursue a position as a flight attendant!

I have always loved traveling and experiencing new places and cultures so I’m very excited to pursue this opportunity!

I do plan on returning to posture therapy part time once I get settled into my new routine but probably not until after the new year!

Check out this client's transformation from the last time I ran my online course!

She was super committed, did the exercises regularly, and it really paid off!

Look at how her chest is much more open, her shoulders are less hinged forward and sitting further back, her neck is back on the line, and her hips are on the line!

Recently I have been noticing my right elbow and wrist popping a lot more than they ever have. Being the person I am and always putting on my little detective cap, I asked myself, "Why is this happening?"

I preach that our bodies give us warning signs before pain, diagnoses, and symptoms pop up. We are just not accustomed (or taught) to spot those warning signs.

Well, I knew this popping was my body trying to tell me something. I realized I have been spending a lot of time on my phone lately (guilty!).

I almost always hold my phone in my right hand, while lying on my right side/shoulder, and my elbow is normally fully bent holding up my phone for long periods of time.

Now none of these positions are bad. The issue is I'm spending a lot of time in them and my body, joints, and muscles adapt to the positions they spend a lot of time in.

It's easy to fall into the line of thinking that if "my elbow hurts, there has to be something wrong with my elbow."

If you have been following me for a while, you have probably heard me say many times that the area of pain is not the root cause of pain.

The shoulder is designed to rotate and hinge. Unfortunately, if the shoulder loses its rotational function, the elbow is recruited to handle the assignment.

The elbow joint is a synchronizing joint (like the knee). The elbow connects the powerful movements of the shoulder to the controlled, precise movements of the wrist.

If the shoulder is disconnected due to misalignment, the elbow has to make up for the lost shoulder power or pass the problem down to the wrist. Have you ever had your elbow pain move down to your wrist? Or vice versa?

It's because everything is connected and the body works as a unit!

𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭??⁣

Your hip alignment had 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 to do with your neck alignment and neck pain. ⁣

As the musculoskeletal system ascends past the thoracic back(mid back), its load-bearing capacity becomes more and more dependent on a 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 of muscles, joints, and bones. ⁣

Above the shoulders, an intricate balancing act takes place without the direct assistance of the major muscle groups of the hips and torso. ⁣

This arrangement makes sense, based on the assumption that the 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺. ⁣

The neck’s limited musculature is designed to handle modest task: to move the head from front to back, and from side to side.⁣

But our modern lives of minimal motion are encouraging the spine to move into forward flexion, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐒-𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐂, and forcing the mechanisms of the neck to do hard labor in order to keep us from losing out heads. ⁣

With the head tilted forward, gravity has us by the nose and is pulling down. ⁣

As a consequence, the cervical spine (neck) may well be doing the most momentous work of any part of the musculoskeletal system, with the fewest resources. ⁣

When you get your pelvic and spinal alignment to fight gravity properly, it takes the pressure off the neck! ⁣

I love the days I get to brag on my awesome clients and the work they put in!
These people take their healthcare and bodies into their own hands and do the work to get these kind of results! 👏 I guide them and encourage them in the right direction. ⁠

This client in particular used to have a rib that would constantly pop out of place. If you've ever had that happen, you know how painful it can be.

He always had to rely on a chiropractor to put it back in (what if you can't get an appointment 😱), but now he can get self adjustments at home just by doing his posture exercises anywhere at anytime!⁠

❗Note how his feet and knees are directly under his hips instead of in a wide stance. This means his hips are functioning better⁠⠀
❗His left hip has lowered! Is it perfect, no? But is it a whole lot better, yes!⁠⠀

Precise Posture for Pain Free Living

Welcome to Precise Posture, a new company with “precisely” one, simple goal – to fix your posture so your body can heal itself and you can live a full, pain-free life! My name is Rachel Marek and I am a certified Posture Alignment Specialist through the Egoscue Institute, and a former employee of Egoscue Seattle. I founded Precise Posture with the goal of using tried-and-true holistic techniques to help people fix themselves. While I am located in the South Sound region, I can also work with people anywhere in the world through Skype and FaceTime!

Posture extends so much further than simply trying to “sit up straight” at the table – in the modern world, our bodies come out of alignment in a myriad of ways, and those misalignment are at the root of nearly all of our aches, pains, and chronic conditions. At Precise Posture, you and I will work together to find the cause of your symptoms and develop a personalized series of corrective exercises to put your body back in balance, eliminating the dysfunction that is causing your symptom. This will not only alleviate your pain and improve your posture, but prevent future pain and injuries as you become more active.
